Well, maybe just then I'd have some time for your playground nose-thumbing, crusader.

But I haven't, because I have read Riddick Blowe's pudendum like appraisals of Khan ever since the lad came out the Olympics.

So, yeah, I'm wise after the fact. But I tell you this: I'll be wise after the fact RE: Blowe & Khan, because I'd rather be wise after the fact & fair to a very good, exciting British fighter than be a boring fvcking one-note near-troll for deep-seated psychological reasons that the dude in question obviously can't face--& I make that final reference just because he has never once confronted his own dislike of the fighter, given the boy credit, admitted he was ever wrong or in any way acted as anything less than a deluded fuckhead regarding Khan, & frankly his hysterical hatred that comes pouring out every time he writes about him (the glee he takes in seeing him get hurt, the sneering questioning of his legitimacy as a fighter & also as a man that he delights in dropping in every time he mentions the boy's name) makes it very easy indeed to see other reasons behind his vehemence & his prejudice.

So. Yeah. Check where you're at before you come steaming in, desperate to put the parochial fan-base back in its place. Or you know, use the fuckin' search function & find out why people might react a certain way to a certain (bunch of) poster(s) when it's "that time" again.
I had a quick scan over the thread this morning for a larf . No doubt the same folk will be out in force as soon as his next fight is announced knives out, dissecting this very good performance magnifying the negatives giving cursory mention to positives. Overrated Collazo blah blah

:OhYes:

Khan looked really good, he won every round and dropped Luis 3 times. A very good performance over a good fighter. Khan didn't look to be much weaker than Collazo and he took a few smacks and coped well. Welter suits him and he's learned new tricks.

Well done Amir :TU:

This happens after every high profile fight; people act smug (I remember a few really bad examples after Froch-AA) because other people didn't predict the fight correctly, as if they have never gotten fights wrong themselves.
Good post. I'm sure people were dying to read some 'sore loser' posts, but no, I can't see any either.

Obviously I picked Collazo and lost a chunk. Khan surprised me.

Re Datsue, judging by his vitriolic post, he's harkened back to a time when I was indeed too rambunctious and cantankerous in regard to Khan (circa 2008/09). I've mellowed since then, unlike him. My posts in this thread (the free money ones) were intended to be in a fun spirit. I did the same with Terence Crawford and Kovalev fights. There may have been a few Welsh fans in the latter that took it to heart (one particularly sore one clearly arising to bait me in this thread, a relic of when I dared to pick against his beloved Nate Cleverly) but hey ho, some misinterpret friendly jibing and choose to interpret it as nationalistic barbs. Datsue has also called me a racist before. Or before he gets on his high horse, something to the tune of 'becoming dangerously close to racism'. An assertion for which there is no evidence whatsoever.

There is one post here I believe where I say Khan has no boxing brain and no defence. That's an opinion, and I think a reasonably widely-held one. He did prove me wrong last night in showing a good constitution and an improved defence. Good on him, and congrats to those who bet on him. :TU:

Well it was a bit silly how so many people jumped on a Collazo win by ko when he's not a puncher and isn't even really an aggressive fighter.

I think it was at the beginning of this thread I said Khan should be to skilled and quick and people were putting far to much into the Victor Ortiz win for Collazo.

That coupled with the dislike for Khan skews people's ability to judge Khan properly. Fact is he's unbelievably talented. The kind that Britain rarely produces. Obviously the chin problem is always a worry, but Luis Collazo wasn't really ever the kind of fighter to exploit it.

I don't think anyone is twisted or bitter, but I do think the general dislike for Khan stops people judging him objectively. Yes he's been ko'd a couple of times, but that doesn't mean anyone can do it.

Cagey, crafty, sneaky, strong, a bogeyman, a veteran - no, last night the word I would call Collazo was a muppet.

Good to see Amir keep his focus (and stamina) for a full twelve rounds and put in a shift that he can brag about - when the night is remembered overall, Khan looked good, Mayweather looked bad - and as a result it could now be a viable fight than a complete joke as it was previously regarded.

Did Collazo flatter him? possibly. But credit where it's due because he got the job done.

PS- if he thinks he can hold against Mayweather, and push him - then he is very mistaken, that element of his game is still pants and when you fight Floyd, you fight the ref too - and they will dock him points without fail.

Otherwise, very good.
Well done Gomez and you're right about the holding regarding Mayweather who seems as the big money attraction to get away with a lot of holding and elbowing himself.

I thought Khan was outstanding last night. I was a bit disappointed with Collazo I thought he'd perform better than that but take nothing away from Khan I thought it was easily his best performance to date.

On that showing last night I'd seriously fancy Khan to beat Mayweather. Speed of hand and foot the key and discipline. He will always be vulnerable because there's always the possibility you can draw him into a war and if someone catches him flush his resistance is none to great. That said if Khan sticks to a plan, sticks to his boxing and eliminates risks he doesn't need to take he will be very, very hard for anyone to beat.

Brilliant win by Khan, he handled the strong man superbly. I thought collazo might wear him down, but no chance: Khan looks stronger at 147, really pleased for him, because now surely, he gets the Mayweather shot.

And I think his speed and heavy hands could make for an interesting fight

Mayweather is hardly a concussive puncher himself. If someone could really get inside Khan's head and and come up with a gameplan....but there again, this stuff comes pretty naturally to Floyd. He's up against a grandmaster really. Mayweather would be the first person to acknowledge that Khan would bring his own set of challenges.

Hit the nail on the head, with every point, well said mate, Khan has done wonders for british boxing, world titles and very exciting, who will fight the best out there, without fear, we have a fighter with Khan that even the Americans believe in, for crying out loud, not to mention it was Khan'a heroics in the Olympics, when no one thought he could even get a medal, that secured the funding for GB boxing, without him , we might not have had the success since, give credit where is due.

Wonders for British Boxing?? He's used the backing of Britain to get him to where he is. But that doesn't stop his family waving Pakistani flags at every giving opportunity during his fights.

Yes let's wave flags, but the correct flags. If a British fighter (Khan) is fighting in Britain, personally I don't want to see any flags. But why do his hard core fans feel the need to wave the Pakistani flag??

I have never seen his family wave Pakistani flags, I have seen them wave Union Jacks, most notably at the Olympics when his dad was famous for his Union Jack waistcoat. Some of his fans do, his closest group of friends/fans, who call themselves the Khan Army, always carry a banner that has the Union Jack and a Pakistani flag on it.

One thing is, though, for every fight, including Saturday, the name on his shorts is spelled out in letters in Union Jack colours.

Anyone who tries to get him on being "non-British" has a serious side issue and probably has problems with every boxer who celebrates any kind of heritage, whether that be Irish, Jamaican or anything.

If I remember rightly Amir had his name on his shorts in the form of the union jack, he took a lot of stick for it from the Asian community for that, I guess he can't win either way, you can't please everybody, in this country we have many cultures and many people with foreign origin, that's what makes the country interesting, you should be able to show your british side and your origin side, because that is who you are.
