I often wonder why no big screen production was ever made in the 30s or 40s based on the life of Jack Dempsey. You'd think Dempsey and his story would have been a natural and they had the ideal guy to play the Manassa Mauler in film legend Clark Gable. Gable even looks like he was modeled after Dempsey. Wonder if it was politics or something? Did Dempsey put some movie mogul's nose out of joint or did someone drag out the old "slacker" charges?
