Re: Deontay fights internet troll. Video
Does anyone have a link to where Zelenoff has been making these threats about Wilder's daughter?
Wilder would have been better off reporting him to the Police if it's true.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gue3Ogt4e8YI'm not sure what to think :( the white fellow Zellenof is a lightweight or welter? Has he been slating Wilder? What on earth did he go the gym for? Who filmed it? Did Zellenof get paid? He's not thinking straight and if a nutter says bad things you didn't ought to take it personally. Surely Wilder has a team that can keep him from doing stupid stuff?

Wilder is a fool for getting involved in this shit. Zelenoff is as nutty as a fruit bat's nutsack, what on earth does he gain punching the living daylights out of him.
Gotta say too, Wilder looks like a rookie in the video, all those wild swings, he isn't exactly polished is he.

Its funny you should say that cos in 30 years time and Deontay is dribbling and smelling a bit of stale piss I dont think any of these cheerleaders will be around to do that for him. They tend to move on when the cash runs out.

Re: Deontay fights internet troll. Video
I think, personally, Deontay Wilder ought to be criminally prosecuted for having agreed to doing this, let alone throw hands with a man that the Internet community has known to be mentally detached from reality for the passed five years or better. I don't care his reasoning, I don't care his motivations. Zelenoff went off the deep end back in 2008, and since then it has progressively gotten to the point that he is a danger to not only himself, but to others--- and all one has to do is read through countless Twitter, Facebook and YouTube comments, threads and videos to see that he fits in every way, shape and form a classic (and severe) state of schizophrenia.
Zelenoff has convinced himself, whole heartedly, that true professional boxing is 'fake' and is more or less orchestrated like WWE rasslin'. He's convinced himself that sparring sessions in the gym, faked or legit, or challenges given over the Internet or on the street to be legitimite and has claimed a 51-0 record. He whole heartedly believes he could kayo Klitschko in one punch, and that he could have kayoed a prime Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. His reasoning for what is true, what is reality--- and what isn't--- is so far removed from the world around him, that it is scary. It is also sad.
I don't care if Zelenoff did make racist remarks toward Wilder. I don't care if Zelenoff did make comments about Wilder's daughter. I don't care if Zelenoff spent every waking moment of the passed few years terrorizing Wilder over Twitter. A bonafide top five heavyweight contender, who has sparked out able bodied, world class professionals in a single round--- had no business giving in to his inner aggressions, letting his emotions run roughshod over logic and judgement, and agreeing to meet up, and pummel a man weighing 147 pounds who lives in a world of his own.
It's comparable to a full grown man, beating on a mentally handicapped toddler for his own amusement. I find nothing agreeable, nothing glorious, nothing at all good, great, or entertaining in this. There are laws and regulations to protect the mentally ill--- and someone ought to stand up for what is right, and have Charlie in professional care, and keep him away from such dangers as this--- and someone ought to stand up, and tell Wilder to his face that what he did was wrong. I cannot imagine any true professional of worth, with any common decency, doing this. However--- I guess Wilder wants to maintain an image of being a bad ass. Unfortunately, beating up mental defectives isn't the way to go--- if he wanted to prove a point, he would quit facing subpar opponents and continue pursuing the likes of Tyson Fury or Kubrat Pulev or someone else worthwhile.

Re: Deontay fights internet troll. Video
I appreciate Wilder may be pi$$ed off with the guy for making comments about his daughter, but surely its in her best interest that he keeps fighting in actual sanctioned bouts and bringing home regular paychecks, rather than beating up some mentally challenged fool and risking loosing his licence. Esspecially as he is only another mismatch or two away from a huge payday. All seems bizzare to me

Good post, sums up my thoughts.
Zelenoff went into the Mayweather gym seemingly by himself, tried his best to give a hiding to 60 year old Floyd Sr, and threw a cheap shot at Floyd Sr when he turned his back,in front of guys that Floyd trains. He could have got very very badly hurt as a result and I mean in lethal terms.
He turned up to a gym, again seemingly by himself, to fight Wilder, a man he has been racially abusing for quite some time and whose disabled daughter he has been making fun of. He is no more than 150 pounds. He challenged Wilder to a fight, put on a pair of gloves and gave it a go. After getting pummeled he still got up and claimed he was the best and wanted a rematch.
This is clearly an individual with mental health issues in the extreme. There is probably no limit to what he would do. Who is to say he doesn't get pissed off and go get a gun and shoot Wilder and his crew? The man is clearly capable of doing something like this.
Wilder was wrong to get involved and should have either reported Zelenoff to the authorities or simply ignored him. Why open a can of worms with a clear nutter?
We won't have seen the end of Zelenoff by the way. I'd lay money on it that he either gets seriously hurt within the next few years or he seriously hurts someone himself.

Re: Deontay fights internet troll. Video
I don't know if it is a worse problem in the States than here in the UK but trust me there are plenty of mentally unwell people living in and amongst our communities. I deal with some of them in my day job. They live in a different reality to us. I recently had a chap who wanted a super hero cape because he had just learned he was bullet proof, and was eager to join the police in the fight against crime. That will sound like a wind-up to most people but we did some checks and he is well known to the authorities, in terms of mental illness. He was in no doubt that he would be a tremendous asset to the police because bullets will just bounce off him. He would probably take on Deontay Wilder in a heartbeat !!! I agree with the previous posters than this shouldn't have been allowed to happen. Even if the on-lookers thought it was funny, Zelanoff could easily feight injuries and trauma, and sue Wilder. Wilder is in the position where he is potentially on the bring of making millions, he is absolutely ripe for a lawsuit and those around him should be more protective of him, let alone having some decency and not allowing him to beat up a mentally ill person.Final round wrote:He should have been sectioned years ago, obviously mental health care in the USA is very lax

Yeah It doesn't surprise my i know a few people who've been sectioned more than once with continuing my problems. Zellanoff seems quite severe and has done for some time, he'll end up killing someone or being murdered himself.

Wilder was never going to psychiatrically evaluate Zelenoff. If you call a fighting man from the ghetto a racist name and mock his disabled daughter prepare to get beaten up. Zelenoff is what he is and so is Wilder. The authorities are to blame here.
I do expect that Zelenoff will be dead inside the next few years.

Fair post. I just think, as a professional sportsman, you have an obligation to not get involved in things like this, voluntarily.
Fair enough if Zelenoff came out and attacked Wilder. I wouldn't have any problem with Wilder taking his head off.
Lets remember, Wilders hands are legally describes as weapons, by law, due to his profession. This is why boxers get treated toughly in the courts if they are up on assault charges.
I'm not saying Wilder should take abuse, he could have went to the authorities.
You have to take Zelenoffs mentality into account. Who in their right mind would walk into the Mayweather gym and do what he did to Floyd Sr? I can't imagine any sane individual doing this. Then to turn up and fight a guy whose a foot taller and outweighs you by a good 80 pounds. Normal people would consider these scenarios to be extremely dangerous and possibly life threatening. Zelenoff in his own mind is the best fighter who ever lived and doesn't care.
We have a young man here who is very mentally ill and a danger to himself and others. I can understand Wilder being angry at the racial abuse and the abuse of his daughter, but if I was in his position, I'd steer clear of the likes of Zelenoff. As I said, this guy is going to either kill someone or get killed himself eventually. He's deteriorating as time goes on.

My connection isn't good so I ain't watched the garbage. Internet nutters are tricky....if you're seasoned I guess they're like water off a duck's back. Start giving them time and you're making a rod for your own back. Wilder must have been unsettled to apparently turn up and fight with this village idiot. You'd never have seen Tyson or Lewis or Klitscko...even Tyson Fury or David Haye could have steered clear of this bollocks. It sounds like a bad April Fool's prank with a realistic chance of a long stay in prison for one and a long stay in hospital for the other.Autobarn wrote:well said.CheckHook wrote:That's what I like to see. Nobody comes out very well here. Wilder looks like an over-sized bully who gets too emotional, Charlie is, well Charlie.
If a real fighter saw this they could realise that Wilder is there to be angered mentally from a bit of bullying himself. I know no fighter SHOULD stoop to Charlie's levels but you can imagine someone like Fury or Chisora winding him up to the point where he's overly emotional.
