How tough must it have been to win a world title in 1984. Each division packed with talent, from Heavyweight down. Is this the best year collectively for talent and strength in depth?

Meant to comment on this earlier.
Some weight classes were pretty good, some were not.
Heavy-A lot of guys who were very good sometimes and listless sometimes. Holmes was slipping by then. Fair period.
Cruiser-A few good names at the top, not much depth.
LHW-Still decent, but it was declining after a great era.
Middle- Weak. No depth at all.
Jr Middle-Pretty good.
Welter-Pretty good.
Jr Welter-Decent
Lightweight-Might look weak at a first glance, but there were several solid fighters who were roughly even. Certainly not a great era, but a decent one for the division.
Jr Light-Good at the top, then weak.
Feather-Pretty good.
Jr Feather, Bantam, and Fly-As usual little depth in these lower divisions. Got worse since 1984, with the additions of still more unnecessary weight classes, furthering diluting the talent pools in a given weight class.
