I found this good biography on Jack Gardner on www.checkhookboxing.com, but trying to sign on there as a member is a pain in the ass though.
It's truthful, but a bit biased against Jack, such as his 7 - Round TKO over Bacilieri and his controversial 10 - Round Decision over Lave. I had read that Lave knocked him down twice in the first round, the first time Jack was down the for the count, but afterwards Gardner dominated the fight despite having a broken nose and cuts.
It's strange how Gardner knocked Escoe down three times and still lost the verdict.

I think Jack Gardner could have been the Heavyweight Champion of the World, but he lacked technique, defense, but most of all he lacked ambition.
One newspaper read that he only made his comeback so he could help pay for his farm.
Seems like even though he wasn't 100% dedicated he put together a good record of 28 - 6 (23 KO's).
