Broken jaw it seems, was a shocking stoppage though, doctor said he was fine to continue 30 seconds earlier, takes a couple of shots, slips a couple, then the ref jumps in and waves it off. Eye wasn't too bad, bruised up, but he could still see clearly out of it and it wasn't closing up, the ref had no valid reason to stop that fight. Well done to Dickinson though, took some serious balls to get up from those body shots and continue, probably got broken ribs, best of luck to him in the final, Ajisafe will need to be on top form to beat him.

I think Clarkson's cheek was full of fluid probably, not really sure. Yes it was a brave performance by both lads. I think frankly BOTH fighters were in no position to continue in what was a damaging fight. I think boxing of that nature is not good, elusiveness was largely absent. Mick said something about Clarkson having been given time to come in in shape this time, and Dickinson said something afterwards about people having said he'd not been applying himself in the past. Those guys smashed each other to pieces, literally, for probably a pittance tonight. Great, great heart shown by both and surely a fight of the year and great for Ch5, but I am not gonna be told that that was high quality boxing because I saw precious little defence.

Turns out the jaw wasn't even broken, just badly bruised, but the doctor had told the ref it was broken and after a few more punches the ref waived it off, pair of absolute cock ups from those two last night.

Fight of the year for me, and we've already had some crackers, but this about as exciting as it gets.

6 knockdowns and nearly punched to standstill, both were on the verge of being stopped. Both shipped so much punishment, by the 7th I think the ref was just waiting for the first one to falter and stop the carnage.

Both deserve all the credit in the world, but especially Clarkson who looked finished in the 1st round and to come roaring back took amazing guts and resiliance.

You could have said the same thing about Hagler -v- Hearns.

The defence certainly wasn't great, but there can be no denying it was one of the best fights there's been.

A tremendous contest where both men showed courage & grit that mere mortals could only dream of.

I thought the stoppage was premature whilst watching it live, but watching the recording back on TV, the referee made a great call.

This fight was an unexpected coup for Channel 5.

We don't get much boxing on free-to-air telly in the UK, so it was a great surprise to see one of the best scraps I've ever seen without having to fork out a subscription or pay-per-view.

Although i thought the ref was a tad premature(something i can relate too ) i dont think it was as bad as everyones making out,Clarkson's face swell was starting to become grotesque and thats never good to see,the ref/doc/corner in the Lebedev/Jones fight all took a hammering quite rightly so after letting that bout continue so where do they draw the line

Shall there be a certain amount of size swelling before a fights stopped? and i dont think the doc can be criticized too harshly for making a wrong diagnosis after a 10 second check,he hasnt got x-ray vision

I feel for Matty but its boxing and he lives to fight another day with his faculties intact and TBH IMO the doc should have stopped it if the ref shouldnt have

In defence of the referee, Clarkson's face did look a mess after the fight. Bumps everywhere.

It was still a cack stoppage though. Especially after what happened in Round five.

Poor ending to a good fight. If Hennessy had any sense, he'd sign this fight to a rematch after the tournament is over, and if Channel 5 had any sense they'd snap it up.
