Pernell Whitaker vs. Sugar Ray Leonard.

Who would win between these two, if they were the same size?

When you say size, do you mean height?

They both fought at 147lb, so they're both the same size weight wise.

I'd pick Leonard to beat Whittaker, but it would be a very similar fight to the Benitez one, although, I don't see Sugar stopping Whittaker.

Leonard would turn slugger & put heaps of on pressure on Whittaker & not allow Pernell enough breathing space to counter him effectively.

It would be close, due to Whittaker's style, but I see Sugar taking it on points.

But Whitaker's best weight was 135.

Is the question really "who was better pound for pound"?

That would make more sense, as it's a question than no-one can truly answer.

It's bad enough trying to answer such questions of fighters who fought at the same weight, let alone ones that are from different weight classes.

As Whitaker & Leonard are both world champions at 147, I had to judge it like that & I can't evisage many fighters in history having a prayer against a peak SRL at 147.

Even the ones who probably could have taken him would have had 15 rounds of hell trying & none of them are called Pernell Whitaker.

Ray would put Pernell on his great, but funny little ass for a 12 round kayo.

At 147, Whitaker was pretty good but not great.
Think he would be on the defensive much of the night and might get dropped a few times.
SRL had too much firepower and aggression and would coast to a 12 or 15 round decision.
