Only time I have been stopped was when I was dehydrated in the fight back in 1996. So, how can you say a novice like Khan would stop me? No disrespect to him, but he is just starting out and has a lot to learn in the pro game. He may develop into a good fighter, but right now he is what I class as a novice.

Behave! Dean Phillips went the distance with Kevin Bennet recently I am certain he'd finish on his feet against Kahn. Kahn would have the edge in speed but thats all at this stage.

Also, can I clarify what weight Khan is ? I always thought (and still do) that he is a lightweight (140lb) but Boxrec and several people have suggested he is light-welter ?

Am I right or wrong ?

Who is he fighting then Shahid? Dyanmite Dean would certainly be an interesting contest down the road, Dean is a tough guy and it would be a good test for Amir.

I'm fine thanks. I'm fine. I've been training all year. A number of fight dates have fallen through for various reasons, so am well pissed off about not having had any fights at all this year. STILL waiting for confirmation of my next fight. It's no fun not being able to make any money from what you are meant to be doing for a living!

In my opinion, it doesn't really matter who we think Khan should fight, the kid aint going to get anyone who will give him a test. I like the guy but Warren will wrap him in cottonwool till he's had about 20 odd fights, up until then he'll match him with much smaller journey men. Didn't like the way he stuck his chin out during the fight, if he ever comes up against a quick handed banger such as Martin Watson he'll get his arse handed to him on a plate.

Would probably say you need to be more active for the fight dean mate although Id like to see it. Also you would go in to win which isn't bad. Thorp was a good fight I thought in terms of being crafty but just too small.

140lbs is light welter. Lightweight is 135 Khan has come in between 136-138 for all his fights so far.

Lack of fights in the past year has not at all been the fault of myself. i've been ready to fight all year - it has been a case of waiting for my promoter to actually get me fights which very annoyingly hasn't happened

Ah ha. It's the 28th January in Nottingham. On the Skelton-Gammer card. Jennings defends against Young Muttley as well

Peter Judson in a thriller. For a small hall fight it got a fair amount of coverage in boxing monthly, not sure about Boxing News.

I shouldn't really speak on behalf of Dean but I was reading about it not long ago, clearing my room. Not sure if the stoppage was horrific but the aftermath was, with oxygen masks etc.

I think most have gotton to know Dean quite well over here, and he is not afraid to speak the truth - even if it is to concede "I got beaten", Boxing Monthly highlighted Dean as being dehydrated and were quite worried at the time of going to press if he would be okay to box again.

It makes me laugh of how damming and clear cut your criticisms are. Khan did a fantastic job at the Olympics. He then went on to beat the Olympic champion, a man who well renowned and hugely experienced. He is still very early in his career and his last fight was against a pro fighter with a lot more experience, an awful lot more. That was a perfectly fine choice for his fourth fight.

This is why very early in this thread I said there wasn't much to discuss with regards to Khan. In essence there is TOO much to discuss. So people end up over analysing every little thing he does. Everyone should just shut up till he's had a few more fights!

Yes what Stu said was right. I was winning the fight, but was dehydrated and it caught up with me in the 10th round. I just collapsed because of dehydration, was kept in hospital for observation as precautionary but everything was fine. No damage was done at all and I was back in the gym a week later as normal.
