British Heavyweights
Looking at the british heavyweights we have some very decent prospects coming through:
David Allen- 5 wins 1 draw (looks ok, hes also gone to the fury camp after his draw and seems to be taking it seriously now)
Kash Ali- 7 wins (got his his first ko, i was actually there and his fight was the most entertaining)
Eli Frankham- 2 wins (not sure if hes still fighting, but is young)
Andy Jones- 2 wins (like Eli Frankham hes got 2 point wins, haven't seen him fight tbh)
Dominic Akinlade- 2 wins (checked him on the internet looks big and strong)
AJ Carter- 6 wins (knocked 4 guys out)
Adam Machaj- 3 wins (all wins by ko and looks powerful/big on youtube)
Carl Spencer- 4 wins (hasnt fought since september after beating carl baker)
Gary Cornish- 18 wins (not sure if i should put him here since hes had 18 fights)
Hughie Fury- 14 wins (watched him on the weekend and he looked poor i think danny hughes beat him, but havent seen the replay on tv)
Anthony Joshua- 5 wins (olympic gold medallist, has a good promoter and has looked very powerful in his fight but still want to see how his stamina and chin is)
We have 11 prospects coming through, who do you think will actually win a title out of them and who do you think is the most talented out of them?

Re: British Heavyweights
For me Joshua is the one that will go furthest he has a big money backer that can easily use PPV with him in the future so he will definately have some serious hype.
The others I dont imagine any getting past British level once they are stepped up. Hope I am wrong though.

Re: British Heavyweights
Dave Allen has a chance as he's a strong lad he but needs to commit to getting some weight off, sorting his balance and increasing his workrate.
Cornish needs to stop fighting Latvians and prove himself at a higher level now, at least British level opposition.
Not crash hot on Hughie Fury, to be fair he's only a young lad and has a good jab (when he uses it) but he's lacking power for me and his shots are a bit wild.
Anthony Joshua for me is on another level. Good balance, relaxed, hits with spite and is in amazing shape. If his chin and stamina are proven to be good then he's our best hope for serious titles.

Re: British Heavyweights
Joshua is clearly way out ahead of the others. Hughie I have always said was over training now even Peter Fury admits it but I still think he is being rushed and as a result may well not reach his potential. Of the others mentioned Dave Allen has the most potential. I quite liked Akinlade but he's old and inactive. Most of the others look very raw and easy to hit by anybody with a modicum of skill.

Re: British Heavyweights
I'd add Dillian Whyte into that mix too.
Re: British Heavyweights
Yeah Dillian Whyte is better than most of those. The British H/W scene is alive with potentially interesting contests but they never seem to happen which is such a shame as we could have a really buzzing H/W scene -maybe we need a tournament like Hennessy is staging for the light heavies to sort out the british rankings from say 5-15.
Re: British Heavyweights
For me Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte are the ones that will achieve the most out of this list.

Whyte a cheat should be banned

Very grown up. Whyte was banned for taking Jack3d which contained a stimulant banned outside competition ie ok while training but not in your system on fight night.
The UKAD fully accept that Whyte didn't deliberately cheat but should of taken more steps to check what he was taking.
He was incredibly harshly treated and received a 2 year ban while far more experienced fighters like Enzo Macrinelli got 6 months and Tony Dodson 5 months for exactly the same stimulant being in their system.
I hope Whyte has been training and eating properly and comes back stronger.
I noticed you didn't comment on Joshua's past.

I've used Jack 3D, before it was banned in its more potent form for potentially increasing the risk of a heart attack. It's really just a decent pre-workout drink, with a lot of the effect from high caffine. Hardly steriod abuse.

Re: British Heavyweights
Good thing is most of them are young so have enough time to improve, i think Joshua could win a british title this year. I forgot about Dellian Whyte but he look quite good before his ban. It will be interesting when he comes back.

Re: British Heavyweights
I'm genuinely looking forward to Whyte's comeback in October. He has been training hard and is very determined to put himself back on the map once his ban expires.polecateddy wrote:I hope Whyte has been training and eating properly and comes back stronger.london wrote:the truth wrote:Whyte a cheat should be banned
I'm all for drug testing but it doesn't seem like a very level playing field sometimes.
Re: British Heavyweights
Rushed?! He hasnt really fought anyone.rm1 wrote:Joshua is clearly way out ahead of the others. Re: British Heavyweights
Rushed because of his age i.e he is not physically mature and is therefore at risk of damaging himself from over training.
Re: British Heavyweights
Maybe he should of stayed amateur for longer then.
Re: British Heavyweights
Yes he should big tall guys like him don't really mature physically until 21 they shouldn't be overdoing the training until the skeleton is fully grown.
Re: British Heavyweights
Yup. Could have learned a lot more fighting top quality amateurs than just facing journeymen.columbo wrote:Maybe he should of stayed amateur for longer then.
Whyte and Joshua are obviously above the rest. I felt the Whyte ban very harsh and counter productive-the board could have given him a six month ban or even a suspended ban-he is young and made a mistake and should have had a second chance.
Cornish hasnt improved as far as I can see and cannot see him coming through decent opposition.

Re: British Heavyweights
Carl Spencer is decent, has sparred with the likes of Joshua, Fury, Price, Skelton and Cornish, last I heard he had a back injury,
but he is big unit, 6ft7 18st and beat Richard Towers in the amateurs, needs to shed those Tyson Fury'esque love handles.
Dave Allen, i though looked very good, but dont know whats happened to him as of late, he has ballooned in weight and
then draws with some nobody.

Re: British Heavyweights
What about Adam Machaj, AJ Carter and Kash Ali?
Re: British Heavyweights
One of the heavies discussed here AJ Carter was badly sparked on Saturday night. He has looked easy to hit in all his pro matches so it was no surprise. Hope he is ok and comes back slicker but his lack of reach is always going to make life difficult at this weight.

Re: British Heavyweights
Its been over a year since i posted about the british heavyweights some of them have lost, stopped fighting and theres some new heavyweights about. Id like to know your opinion on them or if youve seen any of them fight.

Hughie Fury - beat Andriy Rudenko who lost to lucas browne havent seen the fight but read hughie fought good
Anthony Joshua - destroyed kevin johnson i dont think hes a prospect anymore
David Abraham - also beat larry olubamiwo he is 29 years old but read hes been sparring bermaine stevrne dont know how good abraham is though as i havent seen him fight
Ryan Fuller - won on his debut by ko is 32 years old i think he had a good amatuer career will be keeping an eye on him but not sure if hell go far
Young Fury - tysons younger brother won 4 fights lost 1 doesnt really look that good but is only 19 so plenty of time to improve
Oli Thompson - 35 years old put him in because hes had 1 fight but i doubt hell fight as its nearly been a year since his last one
Dillian Whyte - comeback from suspension and won 5 against decnt opposition hopefully will fight anthony joshua (i think joshua will ko him but will be fun)
Nick Webb - won his first 2 fights by ko in round 1 seems to have had a good amatuer career
DL Jones - won 3 hes 33 years old and is scheduled to fight in a week
Christian Kinsiona - beat james barnes on points dont really know much about him and james barnes has been koed by ryan fuller and young fury
David Allen - he beat larry olubamiwo but hasnt fought in a year however, he does have a fight scheduled in august. I read that he was struggling to get fights and added on weight.

Joshua is out the prospect stage now. Cornish is very protected. I like the looks of Hughie. Sensible boxer. Will probably make euro level at least. I think we will find out very soon about Dillian whyte
