Williams vs Harrison - Part 2

Now don't panic.... I haven't heard there's going to be another Audley/Danny fight!

But I just wonder, could Part 2 possibly be as bad as Part 1??

And who would win...?

Before last night's fiasco I thought that Harrison would have too much speed, style, and eventually (as Williams tired) too much punch. After about 90 seconds of "action" I'd seen enough to feel that I'd called this one badly wrong. Harrison was hopeless...just looked like he didn't want to fight, and he looked as slow as Danny. And Williams was nearly as bad, except that at least he showed some willingness to mix it.

Is Audley really as bad as that?? Maybe.... Could be be better? Jeez... you'd have thought so, but now I'm not sure

Could Williams be any better? Probably not...

Would Williams want to fight Audley again? Probably not...

If Audley has any pride he's go back to the US, get himself a new trainer (did anyone notice how long it took the corner to get him to sit down between rounds? did you hear any tactical advice that made sense? how come his stamina is still so poor?), win a few fights against half-decent fighters, and come after either Williams or more likely Skelton.

Chances of all that happening? Slim to none I'd guess.... But if he got himself together I can't help thinking he'd have enough of the basics to beat Williams. He could have stopped him in R 11.... but that said, Danny coiuld have finished it in R 10. What a truly awful display by both of them....

Harrison will never get himself together, IF there was a next time round (and I hope to fornicate there isn't) then Williams will give him no hiding place, he'll be on him from the top knowing that he has the power to stop him if he came in at the right weight.

Audley is finished, FW for sure won't want to put on another fight featuring him as he would find it very very hard to sell tickets.

And I for one wouldn't be tuning in to watch...

Danny fought his best and didn't look great. Harrison didn't fight at all but still worried Williams now and again. If Audley wants it he can come back and do better.

He'll need to go and fight in Brazil now.

It was awful, it hides the fact Williams was awful too. Ihaven't seen so many feints since my mate Goodie bought a round.

I'd have it the other way around. You saw the best of Audley on Saturday night, which was every bit as mediocre as I was expecting. It was Danny Williams who let himself down. I've always given Danny a break regarding his weight but he just looked awful, didn't even have anything in him to attack Audley with after the knockdown.

The only guy to do better in a rematch is Danny, if he was in any kind of serious shape Audley wouldn't see past 8 rounds. I'm starting to hope Williams hangs them up, if he hasn't even got the heart to train hard these days. He's certainly given plenty of himself over the years.

discussing with my brother yesterday. I cannot recall a more wretched fight or indeed bill in all of my 35 years watching boxing.

I am sure there have been some, but I have pushed it to the back of my mind.

I did have a vain hope that AH might step up to the plate and prove himself at domestic level at least, but, in the words of george Bernard Shaw

I'm struggling to recall a worse fight to watch .... maybe some of Carlos De Leon or like an earlier poster says Johnny Nelson's earlier fights. Guess it won't be a big seller on DVD this Christmas!

Makes you appreciate guys like Gatti and Coralles... and indeed Bruno, Bugner, Dunn, Bodell, etc etc.

I read an article this am that suggested AH (when amateur) had made good use of the amateur scoring system and could never adapt to the pro game. Not sure I go along with that totally, but there's something missing. A couple of years back I offered a view that Skelton had poor skills but a huge heart whereas Audley had some skills but a doubt over his heart (and I don't mean "courage" - I'd never doubt the courage of anyone who gets into the ring). Looks to me like AH just doesn't "want it" enough...if hre's ever to come back it has to be with that hunger...

People are forgettin the fight was a close split decision and by no means a shut out by Williams. I had it a draw even with the KD. The cleaner work came from harrison but he only seemed to fight when forced to. If it happened again I think it would be a different fight because Harrison would have to attack. If Williams had carried the fight to him more he would have proabably been forced to fight rather than dancing around and pawing with the jab.

The reason the fight was so dull was because it was two HWs and nether of them were unloading with combinations. Occasionaly Danny would chuck a few wild ones in, audley put a good one together in the 11th but then ran out of steam. There is a reson i like super middle better.

Danny through no more and harrison punched clean where as dannys came off the arms and the gloves. I looked at the effective punches the juges probably looked at aggression. Nether fighter took the fight as there own anyhow

I'm just stunned at how unfit these guys are. I mean Jim Mcdonnell is supposed to be some kind of fitness guru, Williams was fucked after throwing 3-4 punches, aboslutely pathetic.

And it's not just simply a case of guys their size expending more energy, I was just watching a mpg of Lewis-Rahman 2 and they are far busier and snappier with their work.

Hell I thought Samuel Peters v Wlad was bad a couple of months back but this was appalling....

Did anybody else notice that the very last punch thrown was a Williams uppercut that missed Harrison and landed on Williams' own head, knocking him down. Has any other fighter ever knocked themselves down in a title fight?

if you look at the punch stats you will see danny landed twice as many and threw 3 times as many. Realise punch stas can be consfusing and arent gthe be all and end all but in such a crap figth they must be the most telling factor.

no good for nothing harrison was just touching william's head up with his gloves, no useful jabs.. they may of been clean but they were not even punches, just massaging william's face.

Thats not actually 'true'. Its been reported today that after Saturday nite, Allegedly offered Harrison a slot on the undercard of Harrison v Skelton, muted for March...but it was Audrey who declined claiming he was worth much more than an undercard slot.
