Herol Graham was world class for years and got messed around no end, he didn't get a shot till past his peak and gave the great Mike McCallum a real argument. Woods developed into world class and beat some men who were supposed to punch holes in him.

There's no need for the insults; no one here is 'retarded'.

Countries like Mexico, the Phillipines and the USA have populations of 100's of millions and have grinding poverty. The UK is a small relatively affluent country and boxing is a minority sport and interest - the countries culture and sports popularity obviously sways the promotional angle.
no they would love it if they prepared for the kell that fought....erm....hold on......erm....koty  ......my point exactly

herol graham never beat one man that was world class...who did Clinton beat that was world class?

It works both ways....the uk has the funds to educate, etc.....but the majority of trainers through to fighters don't really know too much about the sport at the top end....like they do in these other countries.... I mean tell me one fighter from mexico to the phillipines that would select Gallagher as their trainer for example. obviously people like tibbs, and booth, are the exception....maybe even lee beard

as I say brook will prove the old saying ' you can fool some of the people some of the time, but not everyone all of the time' true....he fights porter anywhere, he gets exposed, and the 1000's of bandwagon jumpers will suddenly jump off, and say they 'knew it all along'

I don't think Brook has 1000's on his bandwagon, there are people on here that know him personally and are close the gym he trains at. Many are agnostic about Kell and/or frustrated with the long winded approach to the title. When he is on form he is very good and if the prospect of a world title doesn't fire him up then nothing will. Porter won't have it his own way and Brook hits harder that Devon or Paulie, he'll not be able to just walk in.
just bcos he hits harder doesn't mean hes in their class.....and bcos brook isn't a devasting puncher, it means even less....

you mentioned that clinto woods beat Johnson....man lost ALL 3 times, I don't care what the cards said. He beat Gonzales...big sh!t!....like I say no one world class......herol graham....again hes best known for a youtube video courtesy of Julian Jackson....fringe world class, but not true world class[/quote]

I think if Brook gets the shot here and has sorted his weight out he has a good chance of beating Porter who looks very strong but hittable and straight forward. Be interesting to see how he copes with Brooks jab.

If the fight goes to the states, clearly the odds shift significantly towards Porter, and I think this will be reflected in the betting odds where I think it will be worth sticking a few quid on Kell as he has trhe power to pull of an upset.
Whatever happens I dont think either man will walk through the other. It will be a tough fight I think. Regarding Porter though, he's cleverer than I think people give him credit for. He's not a straight forward brawler. He'll stand off for spurts where he'll engage in a jabbing contest from range and then all of a sudden he'll explode and cover distance really quickly and start rough housing on the inside. He's not like Carson Jones for instance who just comes forward constantly and is easy to pick off.

I hope you win your bet and Kell stops Porter not only because I feel he deserves it but also to stop absolute idiots posting nonsense.
I also feel that your assessment is spot on when this fight is announced Brook will go into full dedicated training for the biggest fight of his career.
It's a hard fight against a worthy champion here or abroad its gonna be tough wherever.
Kell will be in the shape of his life and will train for whatever Porter has ever shown previously or Dominic feels he may show on the night.
The Ingles are a great training family with a wealth of experience and knowledge and Kell's been with them since he ''he were 9 year old''.
They have raise a series of champion's and taken fighters all over the world.
I hope Porter is as disrespectful as mexicoo and manno a bit of needle can only stir the pot and make for a better build up.
Kell Brook wants the IBF strap big time those who doubt that are mistaken.

I agree about the needle spicing things up but this mexicooo is just changing history nah. World class is when Herol graham stepped up to middleweight to absolutley outclass lindell Holmes in 5 rounds. Holmes would go on to hold the IBF title at 168,as well as beat world class fighters, I know mexicooo cos I wa there. Although I thought him fortunate, Clinton drew with Johnson, lost heavily in the rematch and then showed TRUE world class to outfight Johnson as well as outbox at times in another terrific fight. Once again mexicooo I know because I didn't watch it on youtube, was there for all three. If the definition of world class is a world class peformance then Paul jones beating verno Phillips at ten days notice was world class, oh I wa there a swell. Like him, laugh at him or loathe him johnny nelson was world class for a while. Naz? Say no more. Witter put in a couple of world class efforts. So as I said, what is your definition of world class?

Firstly I actually agree with most of the stuff you've said about kel, not blinded by sheffield-ness at all. Been around mexicooo and the point I made about watching live was made cos of your reference to you tube. Far from being mr boxrec who researches on-line, the only reason I refer to fighters records is cos of failing memory. Just so you know I was a boxer from 1982 to 2000 so any knowledge I have is first hand only, hence the "I was there" quote. By the way a very, very modest fighter but I did fight in America. Agree with you also re, Ashley theo' being technically better, big fan of trade fighters. Seems the only thing we disagree on is sheffield and world class fighters, our definition clearly differs, so we'll have to leave it at that. We have a saying in the cultural mega-power that is sheffield....You can't educate pork. Goodnight god less mexicooo :TU:

So what has happened? I came on here to read about if Porter-Brook is on and instead had to wade through definitions or world class and fringe world class etc...

Herol Graham was consistently ranked in The Ring's Top 10 Middleweights for 5 years in the 1980s... He was definitely world class...that's if I still understand the meaning of the term.

Brook and Porter is a fantastic matchup. Porter is an exciting fighter. I understand the points about Kell Brook still seeming to be potential...even at this stage in his career. This fight will prove things one way or another. Porter must start as favourite. But at the same time I wouldn't rule out Brook making him look like Jeff Lacy...or Porter doing a Julian Jackson on him...

So do any of you chaps in the know actually know anything (and I'm not being rude when asking that?)
