What avenue is best for Danny.

Okay, Danny was awful but that win should propel him back in the mix. There was big talk for a fight with Skelton, but as before the Klitchsko fight I see little need for that. He has a lonsdale for keeps and is not getting any younger himself. Also isn't Danny still suspended for fighting for the British title?

Don King seems keen to want to work with Warren again for a match between Danny and Lamon Brewester (if you believe the papers). I don't think this would be a good fight for Danny, aswell as looking awful, Saturday night also highlighted Danny's own punch resistance fallings. Harrison isn't a big puncher but hurt him the one time he threw punches with mean intend. People bring the Potter and Tyson fights as examples of Danny having a good chin, but hurt by Harrison, Sprott, Mivrovic and Sam indicates that he is not.

For me that only leaves Chris Byrd, who is aging, has fulfilled his mandatory and cannot KO even weak chinned fighters. The relationship between Byrd and King is strained (at best) and I would say the most "for the taking" champion there is now.

Look at the IBF Frank and Danny, forget Brewester.

First of all he should fire Jim McDonnell because we all know how weak mentally Danny is so above all else he needs to come back into a strong corner every time the bell rings. We all remember the shambles in his corner the night he got hammered by Vitali and if the reports are true from last weekend and he trained on his own then that has to be sorted out.
I dont think Byrd would be a cakewalk though because Chris still has decent movement and handspeed to pick off Danny who was a lumbering mess at the weekend.
Fact is IMO that Danny aint good enough to challenge even in this poor era unless he loses 2 stone and gets a decent team behind him

At this stage, and after getting panned by Klitschko, I'd just like to see him earn some coin. I'd like to see him beat McBride then face Skelton. In that order, because he needs to get fit. He didn't look flabby Saturday but he was clearly seriously shy on stamina.

I'm worried that Williams will think he's alright turning up in that kind of shape in future after this supposed big win at the weekend. Against the domestic level he'll get away with it (although he's already paid for it once against Sprott) but he's just going to be a punch bag for the top guys.

I'd be happy to see Danny hang them up. I honestly think his fire has all gone. Audley Harrison would have done well to make it past 6 rounds with Danny at his best. The win on Saturday is only a cause for concern for me, not celebration.

Agreed Mr Kilburn, the fact that Audley was so disappointing seems to have made it easier to overlook how poor Dannys desire and hunger were.

Clearly he didnt put the work in at the gym or he would have been a stone lighter.... he clearly loves food too much and isnt prepared to make the sacrafices anymore....when that is the case you really should hang them up... However £50k plus purses are hard to walk away....

Danny is such a nice guy i really wish he would show some more commitment

Best for Danny? A 6th month sabatical spent at weight watchers.

Based on his performance on Saturday, I'd say he loses to Skelton. McBride would bring him money, a win, and probably another world title shot, which in his present state he'd lose, whichever "champion" he fights

Danny said that he fired McDonnell and trained himself, McDonnell was in his corner and did one workout with Danny when the press were there.

What the fornicate is he doing training himself? Sounds to me like he can't be arsed to put the work in. The man by his own admission is something of a gannet, he loves stuffing his face with sweets and chocolates, but if he's not going to train hard enough to come in at a decent weight, then hes not going any further.

He won because Audley was pathetically negative. I don't believe Audley broke his left hand, because all he did with it was shine his gloves on Danny's head.

Skelton must be seething to think that these guys stole his thunder, and he ends up having to fight McDermott. On the basis of those two on that night, Skelton would have beaten both of them, probably at the same time.

agree i never thought id hear myself say Matt is the best heavy in britain but he is right now.

why cos he is the only one out there who really really WANTS IT.

and that will take you along way in this game.

Agree totally, Skelton has too much bottle for Audley and way too much stamina for Danny, he beats both with his pure will and determination. It's sad the British champion was stuck down the bill while those two poor excuses took the main event. I doubt Danny Williams will be getting any lighter, he will just come in for every fight from now on nearing 20 stone.

I feel sorry for big Skelton, he has his faults but you can't question his desire and willingness to take on anyone, hope big Matt gets his chance

Completely agree with all the posts slating Williams, I hope my post doesn't sound like a Williams love fest. It rates (for me) amongst he 3 worse performances. He was even better in the first fight with Francis than he was on Saturday.

However, I cannot see Danny retiring and I cannot see him getting down to business and shifting a few stone. Hence I was asking what avenue should he go for in the current state and not retirment (because it is so unlikely).

Funny you should say that Stu, while watching the fight Danny actually reminded me of Francis! Fat wobbler, hunched forward with his gloves tucked up round his face, could Danny become the new Julius Francis?!
