peoples opinion on my situation????
peoples opinion on my situation????
I have trained on and off for a few years started with a gym in October and they are awsome but I am now 26 don't want to push for a fight but would like an opportunity to spar and prove myself worthy of it! Any thought I have sparred in unlicensed gyms and not so good amateur clubs which turnt me off a bit but now feel at my current gym I am one of the fittest during training but do people think I should pull coach aside and say what I want or just crack on keep turning up and hope to be asked. Thought by now would of been mentioned my fitness improvements I know have been noticed but deep down I want to fight but know I need to be sparring but want to prove my worth but obviously at 26 quetion if they feel im just a bit passed it it do I have a shot??

WHY U STARTING SO LATE? DO YOU HAVE ANY AMATUER EXPIERENCE? BEING FIT ISN'T ENOUGH. HAVE TO HAVE BOXING SKILLS TOO. IF GOOD AMATEUR CLUBS TURN U OFF THEN YOUR NOT A GOOD STUDENT. U LEARN BOXING FROM THE WORSE AND THE BEST DOESN'T MATTER THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING GOOD TO LEARN IN EVERY TRAINING SESSION. DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO STICK TO EVERYONE THAT COACHES YOU BUT IF YOUR GOOD ENOUGH THEY WILL WANT YOU TO STAY WITH THEM.bobley wrote:I have trained on and off for a few years started with a gym in October and they are awsome but I am now 26 don't want to push for a fight but would like an opportunity to spar and prove myself worthy of it! It sounds to me like you are part of a gym who is looking out for your best interest. A good coach always knows when his fighter is ready to enter the ring, even when to spar. Be patient, your coach will know when your ready.

Cheers for your post got no worries goin pro not on my radar would just like a shot at a bit of amateur and c how it goes. I'm clued up enough to know u can't just jump in and that's it first trained and sparred at an amateur club at 19 but since have had a couple of injuriesthat set me back but trained on and off since starting there. But could tell whilst using that first club and the unlicensed place I was at that there was a lack of fundementals and u would be sparring without really having a clue which to me although I have learnt at the places isn't the best way but the club im with now u are taught how to box using jabs proper combinations footwork head movement and very high levels of fitness but since starting wanted to allow my determination do the talking and not push things but maybe sometimes your best to say what u want and c how it goes. The reason I have started so late is there is no clubs in my town I travel 8 miles now the first club I used was 15 I do wish I had an option sooner but I think this is what drives me on now. Again thanks for any responses opinions much appreciated!!ABC BOXING wrote:WHY U STARTING SO LATE? DO YOU HAVE ANY AMATUER EXPIERENCE? BEING FIT ISN'T ENOUGH. HAVE TO HAVE BOXING SKILLS TOO. If you are trying to be Floyd or Manny I think you missed the bus, but I don't think that was your goal anyway. 26 is a good enough age to get more serious about the sport. I follow my states golden gloves closely & you'll always see a few guys @ least with a half a handful of amateur bouts who are in their late 20s or early 30s so its not as uncommon as you think to be a latecomer. And I can tell you personally one of my biggest regrets in life is not competing competitively in the sport. I say go spar &/or go compete while you have the chance. The things you don't do that you wanted to do are the things you regret down the road. That's not just a saying its the truth.

Yes well didn't imagine id get to where im at would say iv got good skills and think with a couple of monthes sparring id get quite sharp iv seen a couple of lads fight and they are a good level so to spar them would be good oldest fighter we have is 28 but im fairly small around 64 kg probly lose a couple of kilo to fight but alot of lads around 18 about same weight so would get a good even spar. I'm the same although its late coming id hate to never try!ReggieDiggs wrote:If you are trying to be Floyd or Manny I think you missed the bus, but I don't think that was your goal anyway. 26 is a good enough age to get more serious about the sport. simplest way is to speak with your trainer and tell him you want to spar , he might think you're just there for fitness rather than wanting to fight.

Lol, well this guy was writing in English & your post was in hieroglyphics. Also I'm a multifaceted cat, I can be serious or make jokes. My approach usually depends on the person. This guy came serious so I wrote a serious reply. Your post was f#cking nuttier then a squirrels turd so I goofed on you.Bill Hodge wrote:At Reggie Diggs see you talk *personal here and give a glimpse and are "all serious" but at my **OFF TOPIC you are nothing but a CLOWN.
