It's wasted energy isn't it really? It's not upsetting Groves in the slightest, it'd amuse him to see Carl riled up I'd imagine.

Agreed, maybe he's been bottling things up by staying so calm around grovesy

You don't have to vouch for me dude. I have been on boxing forums since 2000.

I like all these helmets getting their panties in a twist when presented with facts.

Oh dear.
From that interview it sounds like he's underrating Groves's ability again.
'Watch vs Taylor, Abraham etc real world class fighters blah blah blah ' He's pretending that it was all his own fault he got a 'World Class Spanking' from George Groves and ' it won't happen again because I've trained harder.' It had nothing to do with the fact the Groves is faster and hits harder.
Carl may well end up with serious egg on his face

Anyway I'm not sure that George had the best preparation for the first fight either due to splitting up with Booth there were, laughs of derision that now one of his best assets (the tactical nous of Booth) had gone he was well and truly fucked but he stil managed to do almost do the business . Can we expect an improved Groves?

Groves proved he was world class in the last bout with Froch; if Carl's putting Groves' success down to overlooking him and he's not taking account of the strengths Groves brings then he's in for a rough night.

Dunno really, seemed very focused to me? What do people expect him to say? Also I sometimes think people forget how bad tempered you can get when you are making weight. If St Peter had to dry out the night before going on those gates I bet he wouldnt be so welcoming.

It affects fighters different ways and I think you can read into these things what you want. If you are a Groves fan you will be thinking Froch looks rattled, of you are Froch fan you would think he looks and sounds determined and ready to rumble.

Believe it or not I was trying to avoid these threads till next week :o

It is a big, big fight between 2 well matched men, one very good over the first half of a fight and the other very good over the 2nd half. George hasn't managed to rattle Carl as obviously as before the last bout and I reckon both will be very nervous later this week; there's a lot to lose and a lot to gain.

Making weight doesn't trouble Froch at all, by his own admission he doesn't walk around at any higher than 12st 7lbs, he could make the weight anytime he wants.

I thought it was dreadful to be honest - I cringed my way through most of it. I'm so hyped for the fight but the build-up has been of a shocking quality... it's like a Poundstretcher rivalry compared to the stuff we get from Stateside. Matchroom seem determined to have turned their feud (which I enjoyed before the first fight) into an episode of TOWIE.

Compare it to the head to head Cotto & Martinez just had & it's embarrassingly bad.

ive been sitting on the fence about 1 who do i want to win and 2 who do i think will win for over a month now, but this programme convinced me Froch is gonna pan him badly this time.

Why ?

I do think the verbals had a part to play in the first one and that this is part of groves gameplan, he comes from the booth camp and we know how Haye liked to play silly games at times.

Simply put they arent working, he has no new material and Froch answered all of his questions calmly and with a menacing stare, Groves at times looked like a Ginger Guppy gasping for air and straw to grasp.

They wind up isnt working Geroge and this time i think you are gonna find out what a warrior Froch is.

Froch by stupendous KO ROUND 8.

Recorded and tried to watch now. Switched off after 10 mins, like someone said, bit cringeworthy, arguing over tiny details etc but all part of the game/hype.

Froch defo playing the game better now though and George trying a bit too hard. Can't see it having a big effect on the night. Is it a sign of weakness that a boxer feels the need to get a phycological advantage? Surely if both are so confident then they wouldn't get drawn in?

He's struggling to make weight on account of the extra muscle he's added with the fitness coach he's added for the first time.

Rocky Fielding knows all about that, it bit him hard last time too, doing the same thing.
Why did it get moved? Is 3 hours that significant? Would an extra 3 hours help if he's struggling rather than cause a problem? (pardon my ignorance)

I actually thought the head to head was quite good. It didn't need the Hollywood or Vegas glitz. It was two guys sat across a table from each other talking very frankly. It was pretty intense. Perhaps we're just too used to the American sheen on everything?

I imagine it's harder to rehydrate or get the nutrients into the muscles if he's had a tough time of making weight. I'd laugh if he had no issues with the weight - I remember Booth and Haye doing a number on Warren and Enzo over the weight issue.

I respect what you say expe but I have shared saunas with fighters who tell the world they have no trouble making weight. Froch is over 6ft tall and is pretty well built and I have yet to meet or train with (apart from heavyweight) a championship level fighter who makes weight easily and without sacrifice.

I think the main point I was making though is that IMO none of this really matters and you can read into all of this pre fight stuff whatever you want to. Does Groves get under Frochs skin? probably, but did it affect the last fight? not in my opinion. I just think Froch vastly underrated Groves last time out as did James Degale and got caught by surprise and then struggled to get his head round the fact that what he expected to be an easy fight was turning into a nightmare for him.

Groves has a camera persona. I imagine he is a half decent bloke away from the lens.

However on the face off he came across as a gormless ponce, which he isn't.

Froch's hard drink at thend end was good stuff and the comment about the little tug and a pull.

McKracken doing all the work for some of those shots.
And not making a realistic target - pads held almost at chest height. Frochs hands low too. Also always wondered why Froch always throughs an up jab when shadow boxing. Wierd.

Watched a couple of these now and groves seems to be contradicting himself a hell of a lot. It does seem as though someone has told froch this and to take 15 seconds to think about what he's said before reacting. The 'everything for a reason' bit was a good laugh.

I think Groves has tried to hard this time and he's made a bit of a tit of himself and added more pressure on himself.
