At 47,54,and 60,how would it have panned out between these two very tall lanky reachy heavy hitters ?
I feel at 147 it would've been probably likely overall the best weight as far as overall competitevness.
But then again,it might've been equally great at 154 and 160 based on styles. Williams's southpaw stance and phenomenal reach could've had Hearns's nuimber,at least to some degree.
Anyway,I see a very competitive fight at 147,probably goes the distance and one or the other wins by a SD.
At 154,i see Hearns taking it by Tko between rounds 7 and 9.
At 160,probably more competitive than at Hearns's best weight of 154. Likely Hearns by relatively close UD at 160.
Thomas Hearns vs Paul Williams ?
Re: Thomas Hearns vs Paul Williams ?
Prior to his injury Paul Williams was my favorite fighter . With that said Hearns wins all very easily.
147 KO
154 KO
160 UD
147 KO
154 KO
160 UD
Re: Thomas Hearns vs Paul Williams ?
I can't see a scenario where Paul Williams would beat Tommy Hearns either.

Re: Thomas Hearns vs Paul Williams ?
Another mismatch?
The great Thomas Hearns should be match with guys that were very good. Not Paul Williams.
Some great matchups for the Hitman:
Kid Gavilan
Carmen Basilio
Donald Curry
Mike McCallum
Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles
Carlos Monzon
Rodrigo Valdez
Gene Fullmer
Emile Griffith
Bennie Briscoe

Re: Thomas Hearns vs Paul Williams ?
I'd see Curry as a much easier match for him. He had the skills to make it close, but not the chin to go the distance; I can only see Curry losing by KO. The rest I'd agree are great matches.
