Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
I used to think that Saunders would win it easily but after seeing the sparring footage with Froch (yeah I know it's just sparring) and how he supposedly gave Groves a lot of problems in sparring i'm starting to sway the other way. What do you think?

Like you said, it's just sparring. I wouldnt read that much into it.
I still think Saunders may have too much for him. I also wouldnt expect to see Eubank Jnr in a meaningful fight anytime soon.

Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
Eubank chases him out the ring.
Eubanks a slow burner I think.

Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
I wouldnt read anything at all into sparring. The gulf between BJS and Chris Eubank is a very wide one. Ryder would also beat him fairly easily at the moment imo.
This next year is going to be a tricky one for Eubank as he has reached that stage between being a prospect and having to fight eliminators and I think with his style is always going to have the potential to be upset. I am not sure I have seen any evidence of him being able to adjust a strategy during a fight.

I don't see them fighting any time soon. The Eubanks are a comedy double act, whereby Jr. fights some divvy opponent and his dad talks nonsense afterwards.
They don't strike me as having any intention of moving him up any time soon.

Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
I think eubank jr is gonna be the real deal. I'm very intrigued to see him against BJS Ryder macklin etc. The level of opposition hasn't been great and I just wish he would start stepping up in opponents
Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
I still think Etches is a good fight for him, I would love to see it personally. It's not like it would be difficult to make.
I quite like Eubank Jr in the ring (do not like the way he is outside, more or less the same but it doesn't matter inside the ropes) and I do look forward to seeing him fight. It is time to be tested though, with somebody who can bang.

I know he was wearing a headguard and they were wearing big gloves..... I thought Eubank didnt look perturbed by Froch's punches at all really. Maybe he's got a very good chin like his dad had aswell.DMA1987 wrote:I still think Etches is a good fight for him, I would love to see it personally. It's not like it would be difficult to make.

His dad's chin was one of the few as good as Froch's. You could pick a huge mutli-storey car park and drop it on Eubank and he would still be standing.
Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
Ultimately BJS after 12 rounds against Blackwell and Ryder will have learnt 10 x what Eubank has in all of his fights put together.
Eubank Jr ( and his Dad on his behalf) have been all talk and no action so far.

Eubank Jnr will be a World Champion and a very very good one why rush him?? He's still very young.. I prefer BJS but in all honesty Eubank Jnr would have too much for him he is very very good and a bit big for him..

Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
One is yet to progress past area level, the other has more or less cleared up domestically and is fighting for a European title, that may also double as a final eliminator for a world title, if Wazza works some of his WBO black magic. It's far too early to start talking about a fight between the two, if Eubank Jr can beat someone like Etches or Butler, maybe we can start talking, until then Saunders is quite rightly a huge favourite, he'd outbox and outwork Eubank Jr to a wide points decision.

Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
I can imagine Eubank Jr giving the majority of boxers at middleweight and Spr Middleweight hell in sparring. In the ring proper he has looked far from convincing at times tho.
Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
Hard to say. Adam Booth seemed pretty keen on him on Ringside. He might have been taking the p1ss in a dry way, but he doesn’t strike me as the sort. I got the impression he’s seen and heard the kid is very decent.
BJS and Eubank are at different stages of their careers and, even though I suspect Eubank might ultimately prove the better of the two, it’d be seen as too much of a gamble to try and find out now.

Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
I just think that even if BJS was outboxing Eubank jnr, he doesnt possess the firepower to keep him off of him and Eubank would end up knocking him out I reckon.
Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
Eubank isn't really a puncher though, he can beat up Latvians all he wants, Carruthers, Pryce, Matthews, they didn't blink at his power and kept coming forward. Saunders hit hard enough to keep Ryder, Blackwell and O'Sullivan off him, Eubank doesn't pressure the way they do, he spends half the time stood there prancing about.columbo wrote:I just think that even if BJS was outboxing Eubank jnr, he doesnt possess the firepower to keep him off of him and Eubank would end up knocking him out I reckon.

Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
Eubank's power will be improving as he progresses and ages. He's still only young, he's still learning and sparring with the best must be giving him a fair bit more confidence(as if he needed it) in his power/ability. Definitely on the right track though.expe wrote:Eubank isn't really a puncher though, he can beat up Latvians all he wants, Carruthers, Pryce, Matthews, they didn't blink at his power and kept coming forward. Re: Chris Eubank jnr vs Billy Joe Saunders
this thread seems pretty split between "no good" and "future champion". Personally I'd go for Saunders 7 days a week, and he's not lived up to his billing the 2 or 3 times I've watched him but I believe he's too sharp and clever for Eubank Jr. Intelligence is a huge part of it tho and if someone has it, in the ring, it can accelerate their abilities quite dramatically in a relatively short space of time.
I think BJS would stop him if they fought over 12.

No you could not.big lennox wrote:His dad's chin was one of the few as good as Froch's. You could pick a huge mutli-storey car park and drop it on Eubank and he would still be standing.
If you dropped a 1 tonne slab of concrete on any man head he would be dead let alone a whole car park.

I'd edge with Jr. Saunders does not appear to have much power and he was clinging on against Ryder and Blackwell.

What if it was the incredible hulk. He's still a man, just a very angry one.SMALL AXE1 wrote:No you could not.big lennox wrote:His dad's chin was one of the few as good as Froch's. You could pick a huge mutli-storey car park and drop it on Eubank and he would still be standing.

He could take 1 tonne slab of concrete anyday.
