Thought the MC was excellent, old school style & so much better than john McDoughnut
Re: Weigh in live
Seems to have gone under the radar, but Kevin Mitchell was 1.4lb over weight. Fights going ahead, though.

This.
Re: Weigh in live
Just not an eliminator any more. Not sure that makes a difference though. If Mitchell wins he probably still gets his title shot. Feel sorry for the Canadian though as a win without it being an eliminator may not mean too much with strong promotional backing.earsjohn wrote:Seems to have gone under the radar, but Kevin Mitchell was 1.4lb over weight. There's no excuse for it, Kevin has had plenty of notice and I'd hope he pays a forfeit, it's about close to outright cheating.
Re: Weigh in live
According to the report on this site, Mitchell put on 12 pounds over night.
Apart from being dangerous for Mitchell, what about his opponent ? - with a re-feed Mitchel will probably be about 11 stone come the fight, for a lightweight !
It is not the first time an overseas fighter has been put in this situation.
It is a disgrace, and as such I hope that Mitchell gets beat (not hurt, but beat).

The rules allow you to come in 10lbs overweight. Which in in itsself just isnt right. I know the intention is to avoid fighters drying out too much etc, but does it help their health in the long run?bripez wrote:According to the report on this site, Mitchell put on 12 pounds over night.

I had read somewhere that Gattis had this to a fine art and could come in very heavy the next day.

Gatti ruined Gamache when he boxed him, he was far heavier - he knocked him out really badly.Broomhall wrote:The rules allow you to come in 10lbs overweight. Which in in itsself just isnt right.
