Ha ha, I'd prefer to throw you under a bus, but i'm afraid the stench would be too much and they'd have to scrap the bus to the wreckers

Martin Rogan? Yeah I said hello, strangely he seemed more into the band rather than the boxing. Not a good sign, haha. Agree he comes across as a good lad though.kylamy wrote:I met Josh Rogan over there last week, he's a really nice guy, you would have seen him at the same event Smithy?

Josh, gees where did i get that from, I mean't to say Martin, but i agree with him, the band wasn't bad, Hey what about the Tina Turner throw in, she/he was pretty good, and a pretty big he/she, moved really well.
I thought the entire event was pretty good, hey your a hard man to please, cos i thought the Main event, was good fight, considering Letoa only accepted the fight a day earlier, he was coming to fight 6 and ended going 12, at the end of the 8th round i think, the scores were all even, except for one judge who got it slightly wrong, but it was a hard slog and a reasonably good fight considering the circumstances.
I think you'd have to agree, both of Inga's kids can really put them together as well, plus they are really terrific guys, both gentlemen, very respectful and well mannered.
If you get to the Super 8, come n say hello
Cheers Brad
Re: Super 8 heavyweight tournie in auckland.
Yeah what was Tina Turner all about? Never seen anything like that at the fights before. The Terra fight wasn't a bad fight I was just a little disappointed, been looking forward to the Berridge fight for so long. It was a long night as well. I think I was a bit drained by the time it finished, 11.45pm on a work night must be getting old. Yeah Inga and his boys come out of it all very well, good support, a good close knit family and just a good all round boxing show in general (especially taking into consideration Berridge's late withdrawal). Mate I would definitely pop over and say hi, but I'll be in the cheap seats. Take it your judging or refereeing at the show?

Smithy, yeah she/he whatever it was, I thought was good value, and had the crowd really up and into it.
Hopefully I'll see you there, I'll do my best and sort you out a better seat, I'm in Sydney for an event til Sunday, I arrive there on Monday, If you contact me at Sky City on Tuesday morning, I'll see what I can do for you, also the weigh in and rules meeting is at 11am on Tuesday at Sky city, please feel free to come and have a look and listen, I'll sort a good seat out for you there and then.

Brad me mate, can ya please flick me SMS results as they happen. Woz gonna subscribe to Main Event, but no good 'cos Centerlink wouldn't allow another advance 'til I (struggling pensioner) repaid 2005 100 buck adavance.
Thanking you in advance

That's very decent of you mate, unfortunately I'm busy as at work and because Monday's a bank holiday, queens birthday I'd never be able to take Tuesday off. Thanks for the kind offer, it's appreciated. On a seperate note have you seen unbeaten heavyweight Asher Derbyshire has been added as reserve and is fighting first fight up against Tua's cousin Lawrence Tauasa in a 3x3 should be interesting.kylamy wrote:tsmithy50 wrote:Yeah what was Tina Turner all about? If you ain't got access to Oz Main Event or Nz Sky Arena...no drama. Here's a link to legal stream
http://www.gfl.tv/event/Fight/Boxing/Su ... ament/2423
and fair bit cheaper. Strange Sky Arena & Main Even didn't request NZ & OZ blackout?
The show wasn't listed on Saturday, when I bought Bankstown show
* Now not live event

Re: Super 8 heavyweight tournie in auckland.
Just got back, would be interesting to hear what people thought of it. Personally was a little disappointed by the actual super 8 tournament, especially some of the judges scores..... Meehan ended up fighting a great semi final and then knocking out Sprott (who was by far the tournaments best boxer on the night). But how he got the decision versus Hunter Sam? Wow, he didn't win a round. Bryce Ritna Coe's decision over Butler was possibly worse. I thought Rahman looked very old, maybe his performance was bad enough to entice David Tua back in the ring (not sure how many would pay to see it though).
The undercard was cracking though, was p1ssed off that even though the first fight was due on at 7, I missed it even though I got there at 6.50. Apparently Asher Derbyshire got stopped in 3.
Sam Rapira was superb, as was Joe Blackbourn, Hemi Ahio stole the show though beating Will Quarrie, I reckon he would have won the super 8 tonight, if he'd been in it. Certainly one for the future of NZ heavyweight boxing.

The promoters and patrons probably got their dream result. Well done Kali.

Not to mention recorder Brad Vocale, who took 5+ minutes to add scores, which a 7 year-old would achieve in 1 & then they're weren't announced.
There's nothing like absolute honesty

I've always liked Kali and it's unfortunate he didn't get the title win he deserved against Brewster.
Glad to see him take this.

Re: Super 8 heavyweight tournie in auckland.
sam spent most of the rounds running, lol.
how did he think he was gunna win in a 3 rounder doing that?
u can't just throw a flurry of punches for 15 seconds and run the rest of the round, and expect to win.

Re: Super 8 heavyweight tournie in auckland.
Rahman is completely shot and should never set foot in the ring again. Once a great fighter now barely a shell of his former self. Hat off to Nansen though!! I think they could forget about the so called "BIG" names and look at who makes for more exciting fights. Would have loved to have seen Tai Tuivasa in there even young Herman Purcell both guys dont Die wondering!! Sprott and Rogan were good was a shame they had to meet in the first round. Be interesting to see what Meehan does next not a bad result to retire on though bank 200k and winning a tourney! If hes to fight again i'd only like to see him defending his Super 8 crown or part of the International UK Prizefighter. Not as a punching bag for some young up and commer or current contender.
Undercard fights were great, Dimitri was outclassed but theres no disgrace in losing to Blackbourne who was a very slick operator as a amateur with alot of fights. Young Hemi certainly showed alot of raw potential!

Hi Craig,
Hey sorry never had a chance to catch up while here mate, I planned on spending a couple more days just wandering about and shopping down in Newmarket, but a family matter now takes my attention, so I'm at the airport going home, will chat next couple days.
Sadsak, can you please put up the post where I was the recorder and took 5 minutes then dishonestly never gave out the scores, cos I'm gonna go back to sky and ask for another couple grand, cos I was the recorder, which I never knew I did, but because you said, I'll have proof that I should be paid more money.
After all, I flew over business and stayed at Sky City with Corporate cars to drive me everywhere, I should be paid more money if I'm gonna be a recorder, I mean i only refereed 3 fights, and did the rules meeting and weigh-in, so if I was the recorder, then damn it, I should've been paid another grand, where that McSharry, ha ha.
Thanks resident fool, so from shitsville to Auckland, you know more what's going on than we do, wish I had your powers, you should have just told is who was gonna win the comp and we needed not go through it all, after all, as I recall some tosser telling everyone the event will not proceed and it WILL be taken down from Boxrec, cos your not convinced, well fark me, guess what just happened sunshine, you farked up again, ha ha, I just love making a fool of you without even trying, cos you do a good enough job ya self.
Anymore foot in mouth bullshit you got?
Cheers

Plainly rumours of your death were greatly exaggerated
Re: Super 8 heavyweight tournie in auckland.
funny how with kali that they went on and on about how he is a kiwi only now. he has been an ozzy for years but there was no mention at all about that.
I know it was for promotional reasons, but c'mon, would it have hurt to say he is proud to be fighting for both?

Re: Super 8 heavyweight tournie in auckland.
Stevie wonder wouldn't have scored that fight for Meehan. He hardly landed a punch and was stumbling round and missing like a drunk. It was the only fight that was greeted with boo's when the result was announced. That and a few embarrassed Laugh's.buster007 wrote:sam spent most of the rounds running, lol.
