Keep trying to underplay what just happened. When you wake up with a hangover tomorrow, Carl Froch will still be King of England.

No offence mate but you are coming across as someone that is:

a) gay and attracted to Froch
b) a bit simple
c) pissed out of your head

If none of the above I apologise but your King Carl repetitions are bit much.
Yes, I have had more than a few, but yes I am very happy for Froch, and I don't mind annoying a bunch of his haters. Carl said what he was going to do and he did exactly that.

This weekend Carl Froch is the King of England, and he earned it with an excellent performance, silencing the doubters. Carl Froch rules the sport of boxing in England at the moment, and he deserves every bit of it. He turned back the clock one more time.

Froch obviously kicked more than Groves' ass tonight, like half the fat drunken population of the nation i suppose.

Ah, that will explain things. :DD

Maduma was badly fatigued, which is exactly why the ref stopped it, it wasn't a case of him being caught with a good shot and his legs going, in that situation there's the potential for him to hold on and recover, but he was so tired that he was never going to recover, stopping the fight prevented him from taking any more punches when there was no need for him to take them.

The Gonzales stoppage was a bit early, but he'd been heavily knocked down and his legs had gone, he probably could have gone on, but it wasn't some horrible, despicable stoppage.
Late to the party, but couldn't agree more with that bro.

To draw a crowd of 80,000 apparently the Public thought he was pretty damn good. I favored Froch ever since the end of the 1st one, and felt pretty confident of a Froch victory all along, but given the first fight I can definitely see why people would've been enamored with Groves.

He's right there with Froch, and is very skilled in his own right. I look forward to seeing him again as well.

In terms of technical ability yes. It's just that every time we get past round 6 or 7 with Groves he seems to deteriorate one way or another. He didn't look gassed last night, this time it was concentration, seemingly.

A lot of fighters are technically there with Froch. Better even.

It's those intangibles that separates him. He just gets it done. I have no doubt Groves is world class. This is probably Froch's best ever win.

I think it's certainly up there for Froch as one of his best wins.

His Top 5 are this one, Jermain Taylor, Jean Pascal, Mikkel Kessler II, and Arthur Abraham.

A very great resume. I personally thought he won the first Kessler fight as well, but it was very close, and you can't argue too much about the decision in a fight like that. The controversial nature of the first Groves fight took some significance away from the victory, but the conclusion tonight was emphatic enough that I'm sure most will feel it would've been inevitable ending to the 1st bout as well if not for the poor stoppage.

I believe he would have too. I also believe Groves will go on to be very very good. Froch is world class and I am genuinely delighted he has proved that to some of the doubters. It honestly saddened me when he was booed at the weigh in and fight.

Sure, but for that to be a brilliant performance I think Groves would have to be an all-time great level fighter and I don't think he's close to that at this point. To treat it as such would be to give both Groves and Froch far more credit than they deserve imo.

Even then I'm not sure I'd consider it such a great all-round performance when I thought Froch arguably lost 5 rounds.

Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Ward, Bute, Mack, Kessler, Groves X 2. A close loss to Kessler (avenged) and a clear loss to Ward. Who has proven more than Froch over that stretch?

Froch is great and a shoe in HOFer. Calzaghe never came close to facing the competition that Froch has. That does not mean that I think that Froch would beat him, but bet against him at your own risk. I could see Calzaghe busting both hands on that skull.

Time will tell on this one I guess. I had Froch winning on the cards, though Groves was clearly planning a big finish. But I definitely see a case for Groves being in front.

It depends how good Groves is. I don't know if I mentioned that.

The question is, why are you being such an arrogant twat about froch's performance? Groves is nearly unanimously considered world class. Suddenly, this victory isn't much because crusadian doesn't think much of the guy he thought was going to defeat Froch.

Go back to your wet dreams about Lemieux.

I picked Froch to win by 9th round KO and it wasn't a hard call for me. I pretty much expected it to mirror their first fight but without Groves having a huge moment like the knockdown; I thought Groves fought about as well as he could in the first bout while Froch left significant room for improvement. Why don't you stop making stuff up?

In the post you quoted I was simply disputing that the win was brilliant, which is hard for me to see considering I had Groves ahead and I don't think he's proven himself (and likely won't) to be a great fighter, though he's certainly good and to stop him like that is impressive (the best KO this year off the top of my head). I'm not a fan of Froch but I have massive respect for him as a fighter and he's the epitome of toughness and willingness to take challenges. I never thought he'd have the success he has given his glaring lack of speed and technical limitations, but he proved me wrong, has built a great resume, and in my opinion deserves to be in the hall of fame.

Yeah, and I'm a drunk and belligerently unapologetic Froch fan who could not care less how "good and reasonable" a poster crusadian is normally. Groves is world class, though proven short of elite this evening. Froch gutted a world class fighter that many felt he would be put to pasture by.

It was a classic performance in front of a massive audience. Froch delivers again, period.

Ok, I stumble corrected. We largely have the same opinion of Froch, though I eventually became a true fan of the man, based on his amazing ability to overcome the odds.

And this was a great win tonight for a man who had been berated for an official's ineptitude. Btw, Groves got away again without the inevitable beating he was going to take in the late rounds. He should be thankful.

I can well understand people taking exception to the idea that Froch was in control of the fight, but he was in my eyes. Maybe not the points at that stage but certainly the outcome.

The relief I felt after 6 rounds was like a lead weight off my shoulders.

I felt George thought he just had to turn up this time.

Froch is just a fighter that's greater that the sum of his parts. For a slow, clumsy brawler with no footwork or defence he's freaking amazing. I bet when he's in front of you, it's a totally different fighter you see.

i told you lot all along that Groves would not beat Froch, never could never would. Froch is in a different class. You all made assumptions after Groves got lucky in his last fight. Class always comes out in the end.

I had Groves slightly ahead at the time of the stoppage, and if anything, the jab exchanges were moving more in his favour.

It's all irrelevant now - Froch stopped him superbly and there are no questions left unanswered - but I don't think it can be said Groves can't beat Froch and he's "different class". He just happened to land a thunderous right.
