I would please like to know how good is the first former WBO Heavyweight Champion Francesco Damiani in strength and weakness in a specific details.

He was nothing to get excited about--a big, white, slow Italian, in the well-known European stereotype. He had skills, and I think won the European Heavyweight TItle. Better as an amateur--silver medaling in the 84(?) olympics while boxing for Italy as a Super-Heavyweight As a pro, can't think of a single big-name fighter he beat.

Damiani beat Anders Eklund, James Broad, and Tyrell Biggs who beat Damiani in the 1984 Olympics Heavyweight Final for the gold medal match.

Oh yeah I forgot about he beating Greg Page. By the way what was Damiani's strength and weakness in a more specific details? Of course he was slow for his weakness, but is his boxing skills was his strength. Please tell me about the first WBO heavyweight champion Damiani in strength and weakness?

Damiani looked a bit like Gerry Cooney. This is true, and while we are on that subject, Cooney had the more impressive build!

Diaminai had fair technique and the ability to string together combinations, but lacked top end speed, and power. Damiani was mostly an outside fighter who did not like in-fighting. Damiani’s stamina was average, and his toughness was questionable.

At one point Damaini was scheduled to fight Holyfield for the title, but declined claiming some minor injury. If memory serves Bert Cooper replaced him.

Damiani was a fair talent. At his best he was say a top 15-20 heavyweight.

Damiani also was slapping Mercer silly...He was very honest in his performances in that he always seemed to be in shape and he worked hard in the ring. Couldn't punch but threw lots of punches. Took a good punch except to the nose

That was his downfall. That huge roman nose. He coulda been a real contender without that snoz.

Kovit, do you have a sub-category in your lists for recording the size of a boxer's nose?
