I'm almost certain that Chris was the last Brit to beat him, Billy.

Chris would've done pretty well as a pro but I think he took the right option. He's done well and is highly respected. He's still a young man with a decent pension and a cushy job in the sport he loves.

There's a few like that, obviously Calzaghe had his huge unbeaten run, but his last defeat of any form came in 1990, not sure when the last one to a British fighter was, Bernard Dunne never lost to an Irishman, Frankie Gavin hasn't lost to a British fighter for 12 or 13 years now and I'm sure there's more that have done similar. 16 years is a hell of a long time though.

I think Calzaghe losa to some Romanian when he was about 19 but it was supposed to be a dodgy decision and later claimed to be an exhibition. He also lost to Michael Smyth in the Welsh ABA semis when he was 17.
Hamed had a schoolboy loss to Dean Pithie, also got beat by Vic Broomhead.

Think that one against the Romanian in the Europeans was his last defeat, don't think it was an exhibition, I'm sure he said in his book it was a European Championship quarter final or something, looking at the Romanian medal winners from 1989 and 1991, I would guess it was any of Daniel Dumitrescu, Rudel Obreja or Vasile Nistor.

Very good point - Kessler's mother is Enhlish. as people move more and mixed backgrounds get more common, where someone is 'from' is harder to define.

If we are talking registered nationality; I assume that disqualifies Kessler who I doubt has a UK passport..... But great point nonetheless
