Am I the only one who started out watching Assault In The Ring (documentary about the aftermath of Resto's fight with Billy Collins) with unconditional hate for this guy?
.......and then felt pity for his pathetic attempt at confronting Panama Lewis at the end?
I'm not saying that his role in what happened to Collins seems any less disgraceful, I just got the feeling more and more that this is a guy who genuinely is and was too easy to mislead and Panama Lewis did the deed for that very reason.
It's a long time since I watched this, I might have to revisit the documentary.

I felt pretty much the same way.
It's a tragic story for all concerned, except for Panama Lewis who continues to be a contemptible skid-mark on the underpants of boxing.

I remember watching the documentary and it was very sad. Resto and Lewis ruined a few lives with their actions. I do not think that they imagined how terrible and wide ranging the consequences would be. It was very upsetting seeing Billy Collins Snr and also Resto who was definately deeply affected; though he did something terrible he did not seem to be a terrible man if that makes sense.

Sometimes for all of us we take actions or do things that we wished we hadnt or have unimaginable consequences. I watched something about that Australian DJ who pulled that prank on the Royal baby which led to a nurses suicide. Awful consequences for all concerned. She clearly is not a bad person, just wished she could wind the clock back.

I've seen the doc a few times. The whole time I just keep getting the feeling that Luis Resto is trying to put all of the blame on Panama Lewis, and trying his best to take none of it onto himself.
He finally does come clean, and admit that he knew what was going on that night, but still it seemed like he was trying to blame on Lewis more so than accepting his share of the blame really.
Billy Collins Snr. not allowing his Son to do what he loved, and basically driving him to suicide didn't exactly come across as a person I would have a lot of sympathy for either.
It seemed like a case where virtually everyone involved used extremely sh*tty judgment. Panama Lewis is definitely the biggest piece of trash of all of those people, as he doesn't even seem slightly remorseful about his actions
