David Haye "I lied, I let people down"
Re: David Haye "I lied, I let people down"
As someone who thought he was the man with the speed, explosive punching power and attitude to beat Wlad...that was a very interesting and honest interview.
'Toegate' aside; he's finally put it on the record and said that he made a mess of his training and could have pushed himself far harder in the fight and that it was a deeply disappointing and lame challenge that in turn damaged his overall credibility. Well done David!
I am in the minority here, but I actually would like to see David fight Wlad again for the simple reason that he is still one of the few challengers out there with the right tools to upset Wlad and that he'd have a point to prove.

@SkyAdamSmith Now we know the real reason why your SO biased Towards team Fury! Because 10 years ago u got battered by a traveler! #Wanker!!
Has he been told to never darken Sky Boxing's doors again? I know he's thick but you think he'd have one eye on the future.
I think the salient thing to take away from this is that someone quickly needs to explain to Tyson the difference between being biased "for" & "against" someone.

This. What about the people who paid for hotels and tickets TWICE for Fury, Charr fight?
Haye is a waste of ink.

Haye acted like a right twat prior to the Klitschko fight. From reading his quotes and from seeing him via the media in the last year or so I'd say the guy has grown up and now developed into a decent and likable human being. Good on him.

That makes no sense, if he didn't want to fight them he wouldn't have signed the contract. What would he gain from not fighting?Horse wrote:So he doesn't have to fight them.Controversial wrote:Horse what would Haye gain from pulling out of fights with fake injuries?
I didn't think there were many people who thought his 'injuries' against Vitali and Charr were genuine.
Re: David Haye "I lied, I let people down"
Can't you remember the Vitali and Charr situations? He had plenty to gain by pulling out.Controversial wrote:That makes no sense, if he didn't want to fight them he wouldn't have signed the contract. What would he gain from not fighting?

So what did he gain then? The Charr and Fury fights were both scheduled in 2013 and Haye last fought in 2012.Horse wrote:Can't you remember the Vitali and Charr situations? I still want to see him fight Fury. I bought a ticket for the last one and I'll buy a ticket again if it happens.

It's a shame there's no footage around of his spar with adrian dodson from the 90's.
It was every bit as funny as you might imagine.

as cringeworthy as it was when he pulled the toe out. I still maintain, that toe was a perfectly valid excuse for his performance in that fight, i always have.
You try walking on a broken toe, let alone spring off of it to make the kind of explosive attacks he would have to make to get in range to hurt wlad
I, like you, thought and still think he has the tools to upset Wlad. I reckon his speed was the weapon he needed to get up close and in range to land a big shot
I'd favour Wlad in a rematch, but if fully fit i'd give Haye a good chance of getting the stoppage. If he had not had that broken toe, I gave him an even better chance in 2011.
This will get roundly laughed at. But as I said, try breaking your toe and jumping around a ring, it's not going to happen

I'd forgotten about that. I hope somebody has it and uploads, it was absolutely hilarous, like a Mr Bean sketch.chiggsy wrote:columbo wrote:I find it hard to imagine Smith in any kind of physical altercation lolFinal round wrote:What's the deal with Fury anyway? If it was his big toe, I could understand, but it was his little toe, you hardly put any weight on it and if fighters can fight with broken hands and jaws and go through the pain barrier, he could have done it with his little toe.davie wrote:Bodyshot3 wrote:As someone who thought he was the man with the speed, explosive punching power and attitude to beat Wlad...that was a very interesting and honest interview.

Re: David Haye "I lied, I let people down"
I've broken the little toe on my left foot twice. Both times, it effected the way I walked. I was sparring a fair bit back then and it was the last thing in the world I wanted to do with a broken toe. I have the utmost respect for Haye for taking the fight with that injury. He could have (and maybe should have) postponed the fight, but didn't. Yes, he gave a pretty shit performance, but in reality, Wlad is just a bridge too far for Haye. He lost and as a result, tried to justify that after the fight by showing the world his injury. People justify things all the time, especially boxers after a loss. Who wants to admit that they were wrong and that the other bloke is just much better than them?expe wrote:If it was his big toe, I could understand, but it was his little toe, you hardly put any weight on it and if fighters can fight with broken hands and jaws and go through the pain barrier, he could have done it with his little toe.davie wrote:Bodyshot3 wrote:As someone who thought he was the man with the speed, explosive punching power and attitude to beat Wlad...that was a very interesting and honest interview.

He lost two big paydays, dropped in the rankings, lost money on 2 lots of training fees, lost a lot of respect and has been out of the ring for 2 years. How is that gaining anything?Horse wrote:Really? Think about it.Controversial wrote:I'm still wondering what Haye gained from pulling out of these fights???

Because he looked sh!t in training and was worried his legacy was going to be ruined by losing to the big fella?
