British Cruisers
Following on from the great article on the front page, Britain does indeed have a booming 200lb division at the moment, swelled largely by Cleverly and Bellew stepping up.
But it's a big shame that Afolabi often gets overlooked as a Brit because for quite a few years he's been our highest ranked cruiserweight rep.
I'd love to see him in with Bellew or Cleverly but of course it would have to be for a title. Maybe a WBA eliminator with Cleverly is the most likely?
There are also some good prospects like Deoin Jumah and Simon Barclay out there who'll be banging on doors in a few years.

Re: British Cruisers
There are potentially some good fights to be had at Cruiser between Bellew, Cleverley, Dickinson, Askin, Simmons, Keane etc.etc.
I did not include Ola as I consider him to be a level above those named.
Unfortunately, the only fight I can see coming off is between Bellew and Cleverley - this will be built up and sold as a "World" title fight of some sort.

Re: British Cruisers
Does anyone know whether Simon Valilly is worth adding to the prospects watch list? He's 4-0 but does not seem to have stopped anyone yet but had a successful, decent amateur career. Be interested to know.....not much fuss about him at the moment.

Bellew should fight JLD. Only problem is Dickinson beats him easily.

Re: British Cruisers
I think Dickinson would beat Bellew and I do have my feet on the ground. He proved v Dawson he could negate and nullify a hard puncher and Ian John is a real 12 round fighter.billy nelson wrote:living on another planet mate sorrykeithmoonhangover wrote:Bellew should fight JLD. (I think that billy is sometimes a bit kind to people he knows and likes, it's a nice thing but it's not really an objective appraisal).
Re: British Cruisers
I'm a massive JLD fan I think he's underated and really difficult to beat. In saying that I think right now Bellew would be the favourite but it would be a very good fight.palooka wrote:I think Dickinson would beat Bellew and I do have my feet on the ground. Re: British Cruisers
I should have said Jon Lewis - I had the referee in my mind for some reason (he was a good fighter as well)

Not on that performance he doesn't hahaha he got k.o.d bad by bellew as an amateur so what has he done since to make you think that???? Re: British Cruisers
good to see we know have a better champion at this weight. I can't believe people were taking Dickinson seriously he is so limited.
Re: British Cruisers
turn it in lads, billys right Bellew would rip JLD a new one.palooka wrote:I think Dickinson would beat Bellew and I do have my feet on the ground. Re: British Cruisers
Do you think Ovill would beat Bellew at Cruiser?
Ovill seems to be punching harder than ever with the extra weight and Bellew was out on his feet against a total non puncher last time (Ovill 'looks' like a Cruiser as well, Bellew looks like a FAT lightheavy)
However there is always a chance Bellew will turn in another 'master class' as his did in the second fight with Ovill (Master class = back pedalling in terror for 12 rounds)

Ovil for the record has 12
As for a master class he won almost every round, what would you rather he does stand in the middle and trade
I look forward to a very uneducated boxing reply

He IS NOT a puncher at world level.
You honestly think Brudov is a heavier puncher than McKenzie?
'Very 'educated'
Re: British Cruisers
Imagine if Haye was a cruiser now. Bellew and Clevery would stay well clear!
Re: British Cruisers
Last time I saw Haye interviewed he looked VERY light, and given the fact he is now a Vegan a return to Cruiser is possible?
Re: British Cruisers
I'd like to see Haye v Huck at Cruiser, that would be excellent.

Re: British Cruisers
If Haye made a return to boxing, cruiser would be pointless. He cleaned up years ago and his 'destiny' was to be heavyweight champ of the worldHuss wrote:Last time I saw Haye interviewed he looked VERY light, and given the fact he is now a Vegan a return to Cruiser is possible?
Re: British Cruisers
Perhaps he can do lightheavy, now that Clev and (haha) 'Bomber' have moved up he could be our new 'star' at 175lbs.
Three weight champ could be his new 'destiny'?
(He never won the IBF at Cruiser so did he 'clean up' there?, always pisses me off when he's referred to as 'Undisputed' Cruiser Champion)

Tell us all the big names Mckenzie has k.o.d ???????
Brudov has fought for 2 world titles and had more than double the amount of fights Mckenzie has
Please tell me your not comparing brudovs c.v. To mckenzies c.v.
For the record I think Mckenzie is a big puncher but with 12 k.o.s on his record it's hardly in the same league as brudov is it?
Mckenzie has a 50% k.o. Record it's hardly worth talking about. There are people who can't punch at all who have better k.o. Records
You come across as tho you have very little knowledge in boxing?
I'm not sure if you are a young kid so if you are then I apologise

I'll make this as concise as possible for your obviously frantic and ruined comprehension (In your defence you seem to be a Bellew fan ... so you can be excused somewhat)righthook wrote:Tell us all the big names Mckenzie has k.o.d ???????

1. The majority of the KO's on Brudov's record came against obscure Russians/Turks/Georgians/Latvian with LOSING records, against world class/fringe world class he invariably has to go the distance or he loses (this isn't my opinion it's fact, look for yourself) he is not a puncher at world level (yet he had old peanut head out on his feet)
2. If McKenzie had been fed such weak opposition in his early career what do you think his KO percentage would look like?
3. My original post that engendered this increasingly fatuous colloquoy asked 'Could Ovill beat Bellew at Cruiser?) At Cruiser McKenzie has had five fights (his two recent title shots and three in Prizefighter) he has stopped THREE of those opponents (two of them reigning champions) and floored another, Bellew looked dreadful beating a near 38 year old who hasn't weighed more than 185lbs in his last three fights.
If you are an example of someone WITH 'boxing knowledge' I'm quite happy in my supposed ignorance.
