Joey Iannotti -- American boxing federation

Post by delisa »

Hi --

I deleted the references to the American Federation of Boxing title purportedly won and efended by Joey Iannotti.

Joey does not recall these fights for being for any belt, nor does his scrapbook reflect any mention of the "ABF"

I seem to recall Herb Goldman reported this in an issue of Boxing Illustrated -- but with no references. This points up again the problem of relying on secondary sources!!

So, until someone can come up with proof as the the "title" status of these fights, I have deleted the references. If you come up with anything, please let me know and i will forward on to Joey and his son.

Hi Mike
Its been several years since our last contact. When we left off we were trying to vett American Federation of Boxing Champions.. I could not find any documentation at that time. But recently going through my dad’s memorabilia I found a document. I have attached it to an email. If its viable, perhaps you can update my dad’s record.
I also saw some talk on Boxrec Forum about dad and Willie Pep.

Hi
Thank you for my dad's amateur record. I did not have a copy of this..
i have in front of me a document from Boxing Bodies, a brief chronology and rundown,

it states
1941-American Federation of Boxing
Organized in New York and sanctioned a series of eight round bouts for the World Junior Featherweight Title. Champions included Davey Crawford, Aaron Seltzer and Joey Iannotti
The ABF lasted only a year.

is there a way i can send this to you
