Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
Who was the P4P hardest puncher ever?

Not Jackson, that's for sure

Is it laughable to you that he was considered ? Surely he's up thereTomasino wrote:VG_Addict wrote:Who was the P4P hardest puncher ever?

Like the vast majority, I've seen little of Jimmy Wilde. That's why I didn't mention him in my post. However I've seen plenty of Jackson. He was a big hitter but fought mostly mediocre opposition. Who did he knock out that would make him challenge Langford, Saddler, Stanly Ketchel, Archie Moore, Ray Robinson, Rocky Marciano etc for title of pound for pound best puncher? Terry Norris?
I think he is way overrated.
Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
good question wilde would ko guys who would be 7 weight classes above him today and jackson was the hardest puncher i have ever seen and anyone that question jackson power at top level mustn't off seen many of jacksons fights.
Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
I personally think that Julian is at least in the top ten punchers of all time. Regarding quality of opposition ; this doesn't make sense; There are a lot of average fighters with great chins and good fighters with poor chins. Jackson was a frightening hitter whose punches had a sound to them that was unique.stevedoc wrote:good question wilde would ko guys who would be 7 weight classes above him today and jackson was the hardest puncher i have ever seen and anyone that question jackson power at top level mustn't off seen many of jacksons fights.
Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
Indeed. Regardless of the level of opposition. You can tell when a guy has true raw power like that when you see it.evrenb wrote:I personally think that Julian is at least in the top ten punchers of all time. He's top ten due to the sound his punches make? Not who he kayo'd
Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
I fail to see what is amusing?
Prime Terry Norris and Herol Graham for example....didn't matter to him anyway what the level was. If he caught them it was over.
Tomasino - please give me your ten fighters that put Jackson out of the top ten and we can analyse?

He caught Thomas Tate and Mike The Bodysnatcher. He was a hitter but I just don't think he is in the argument for biggest pound for pound puncher.
Sam Langford
Archie Moore
Stanley Ketchel
Joe Louis
Carlos Zarate
Sandy Saddler
Wilfredo Gomez
Ray Robinson
Thomas Hearns
Gerald Mclellan
Rocky Marciano
Roberto Duran
George Foreman
Bob Fitzsimmons

I've seen most of his fights, thanks. I'm just not in awe of him like you are. When you say power at the top level, do you mean he knocked out a lot of 'top level' fighters? Norris and In Chul Baek and maybe Graham. I don't think that cuts it compared to the best punchers pound for pound. Maybe it's the sound of his punches that has you seduced?

i think your getting your posts mixed up i never mentioned anything about the sound ...maybe read the posts first before you make yourself sound any more stupid. and to say norris wasn't a top fighter is just plain idiotic ,probably the best light middle weight ever....

Calm down bitch. It's you who didn't read my post before responding. You have made a habit of looking stupid on this forum, you are not bucking the trend now.
I said that Norris and Baek don't cut it against the opposition knocked out by the likes of Archie Moore, Sandy Saddler et al. As for Norris being the best light middle ever, thats none sense. I think you are the guy who needs to watch more fights, perhaps pre 1990.
Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
@tomahawk sorry i took a while i was getting a blow job of the mrs ....now as i was born in the 60's i think i've seen enough pre 90's fights now why don't you go back to wanking off over justin beiber and leave the adults to talk about things you don't understand ...laters gayboy

Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
The thing with Jackson was he often sparked fighters with one punch, proper clean knockouts, not ref stoppages or multiple knockdowns. Thats the sign of a true puncher.

Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
There are a lot of 'punchers' who were better all around boxers than Jackson and beat better opposition, but he is near the top P4P in terms of just raw punching power IMO. His KO's were scary to watch; he could make his opponents totally lose control of their bodies and go into shock with one clean shot.
I haven't seen enough of Wilde to compare their power, but he was clearly one of the great all time KO artists based on his record.

Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
In my lifetime, there were 3 punchers that when I think of them I say "Wow":
Julian Jackson
Thomas Hearns
Mike Tyson
Those 3 guys could really hit. Raw power. One punch KO power.

Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
I've seen a fair bit of Jackson and nothing of Wilde; I can't imagine a harder hitter at light middle or middleweight than Jackson - (maybe Hearns); it's a wonder Jackson didn't really hurt someone, he hit tremendously hard.
Some of the fighters on Toms list were fantastic hitters as well though I've not seen Langford or Ketchell box.
I'd put Jackson in a list of boxers I'd seen for sure and Olivares would be in there as well, so would Zamora.

Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
Julian Jackson is by far the most concussive puncher I've seen in my 40 odd years of watching boxing.
Jimmy Wilde is, in my humble opinion, Britain's No. 1 pound for pound fighter of all time.
I can't say who punches harder (for their weight). And neither can anyone else. With some fighters the power comes from pure strength (Foreman), with others timing (Hearns) but with Jackson it was just a terrific punch.
I doubt anyone has a higher OUT COLD record than he. When he caught you properly, you were gone. He wasn't that good a boxer, just a beast of a puncher.

I think it's because he did you with one punch rather than an accumulation of punches. Less overall damage.palooka wrote:I've seen a fair bit of Jackson and nothing of Wilde; I can't imagine a harder hitter at light middle or middleweight than Jackson - (maybe Hearns); it's a wonder Jackson didn't really hurt someone, he hit tremendously hard.

Re: Jimmy Wilde vs. Julian Jackson.
I watched Jackson take out Terry Norris the other day. It really is amazing that Norris could come back from that and have a great light-middle career. He was totally sparked in 2 rounds.
