Was chucking his weight about at the Wharton-Smith fight at Elland Road until one of the boxers on the card put him on his backside.

I'd have to agree with that.

For those saying Eubank, I don't think I could think of anything worse than someone trying to sound deep or intelligent by quoting Kipling or talking at me about how to live my life. It would be like an interminable careers advice lesson from a blowhard woodwork teacher who's only ever had the one job.

Boxers:

Alive: Larry Holmes

Dead: Stanley Ketchel

If I could chat to any trainer, alive or dead, it'd be Angelo Dundee. His book was the bests sports autobiography I've ever read.

I'd like a chat with Mills Lane and Dan Duva as well.

The “International super star” that is Carl Froch just talking about his “unbelievable career” would be awesome throw in Eddie Hearn and Kugan Cassuis at the Sugar Hut too.

But, if those three were busy, someone like Hopkins but only for 10minutes or so. I think he would freak me out.

Well if you do happen to end up having a chat with B-Hop,keep it away from a trailer or he might make you cry and piss yourself like Buncey

Sykes was no different to any infamous bullying pudendum from any village town or city, boxing just added to his ability to inflict suffering on plenty of undeserving people unfortunately. I don't like to speak ill of the dead or be brave behind a keyboard but that man is where he deserves to be. On a lighter note cowboy mcormack, worked offshore with his good friend in 88 and the stories he told about him were epic, including a post fight party with a former eastenders actress :OhYes:

Back to topic

There has been lots of chat on this forum about yesteryear and boxers etc, but I thought about who would you most like to chat with if you had the chance. i'm sure we have all our favourite boxers but im also sure that lots of our favourite boxers would not hold a conversation for more than 5 minutes, proberly on the par talking about physics with David Beckham.

So if you had the chance to delve who would you like to chat with.

My option would be Paul Sykes from Wakefield. He had so much chit going on in his head that I would love to chat with him about it. Ive know people who have known him and said it was an experience talking to him.

Apart from him Chris Eubank Sr would be a eye opener.
Believe me (and I speak from first hand experience) you would not enjoy a chat with Sykes.

He was a Scary piece of work. Usually lashed out of his mind aswell. Not a nice experience at all. A bit like walking on eggshells with clogs on.

I think it would be interesting to chat to Eubank Snr and hopefully I'll get the opportunity one day. Henry Cooper when he was with us would have been an absolute honour.

I'm lucky enough to have chatted with Emmanuel Steward a couple of times and it was an awesome experience. He was so open about everything and revealed a lot about his career and of the boxers he trained. Always had time for people no matter who they were.

Personally, I think Eubank senior would be a bore.

Barney Ross by a country mile for me. That guy had a seriously full life. if you've never read up on him I'd recommend you to do so - even if it's 'just' how he won his Silver Star.

Eddie Futch for me. Made his name as a trainer but was an outstanding amateur who couldn't turn pro due to medical reasons. Seemed a lovely guy and a fascinating character who guided great fighters for so many decades.

Jack Blackburn who was the trainer of Joe Louis had a very eventful life and would be interesting to listen to.

Around my age Billy Schwer and the late Shaun Gray, I'd have liked to speak to them, good boxers, decent fellows and I imagine good company.
