Alan Vaughan; what happened?

Was checking out some results for him, and found this old one, its from 1995. in a USA v England match, quite a few names you'll know.

165 Lbs.. - Andrew Lowe dec. Shane Swartz, Ft. Collins, CO, 5-0

Alan Vaughan did get stopped in this contest against chop chop Demarcus Corley who later became WBA champion another typical amateur stoppage with Alan getting caught. I watched tha fight many years ago and was a big fan of Alan Vaughan ,Not long after that Alan boxed for Great Britain vs Africa and he boxed against Stephan Carr from (south Africa) he totally dominated that contest dropping Carr a couple of times and was close to stopping him.I think the year was 1996 he retired from Boxing

Some high quality names here, and looking at how their careers progressed from this point makes you realise just how tough the pro game is. David Burke was another high quality amateur, James Branch as well.

I stand by my post,the op wanted to know what alan did after boxing and i'm sure alan and fans would like to forget it but it's a pretty big deal and obviously played a big part in his life after boxing.

Understanderable that you read a quote about Alan Vaughan getting involved in a drug dealing situation in 2010 but obviously you have just googled that situation and decided to post it??Tell us something else about Alan Vaughan then before you decide to copy and paste things off google??...... 30 months for £0.5m of drugs.....i always wonder when people get such a light sentence.....

Los 2 totally understanderble 30 months for 0.5 million worth of cannibis a very light sentence but as "harry boxing" said "don't believe everything the papers say" Alan Vaughan done 11 months inside for his involvement, I think the value of the cannabis was street value, let's face it if ya had half a million pound why would he be involved with possession of cannabis. Story I heard was Alan was involved in the storage of cannibis and not dealing it.

Possession with intent to supply canabis is a totally different charge from supplying canabis which is why he got such a light sentence. Now coaching at kirkby abc, one of the most successful gyms in the country!

Harry and Olympic think you have both jumped to the wrong conclusion regarding mickey 1975 and his kray line, have a closer look I'll think you'll find it was a sarcastic attempt to curb the way the thread was going. Have a look at the peacock gym armed blah thread on here and view his comments. Understandable that you would defend your pal but not ev1 is out to have a pop at vaughanie(Paul ingle called him that not me!). That he is remembered with such esteem nearly 20 yrs after his retirement despite never boxing pro to a wider audiences would be enough for me.

This is just from a personal point of view, but it is interesting to find out what happened to boxers good and bad from the past. People on here often discuss the personal lives and experiences of boxers and what they get up to once their careers are over, or even during their careers and it doesnt mean this is insulting to the boxers concerned.

I like to hear about what happened to the boxers I knew when I was active-a couple are inside, some have been inside and have turned their lives around which is inspiring, others have died, others have done very well-but it is all interesting and it is all part of the boxing story.
