Fighter dies in White collar fight...
Been reading on facebook about a young lad dying in nottingham this weekend Lance Prayogg.Such a tragedy I wonder now what will happen on these shows now the unthinkable has finally happenend.Rip tothe lad and condolences to his family.Hopefully the promoter will have the same insurance as the bbbc where a fighter gets 100k for family in event of the worst thing happining.
Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
It will be interesting to see what medical provisions there were, did he have an existing condition not picked up by the white collar medicals? Did the ref let it go on too long? Was an ambulance and an aneathnitist on site? And what insurance are available for after care?
If it goes bad it could have an impact on the unlicensed circuit.
More importantly RIP

I read somewhere that it was an asthma attackCoco wrote:It will be interesting to see what medical provisions there were, did he have an existing condition not picked up by the white collar medicals? Like you say will (and rightfully too) lead to some very tough questions being asked of this promotion in particular as well as the whole white colar scene.
Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
it's always sad when someone dies however it happened and i'd imagine this will be the end of white collar boxing as we know it..
and maybe it's a good thing as there's a reason for all thw medical checks

Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
I dunno its receiving bvery little coverage that I've seen. In fact if a BBBOC licensed fighter had died I'm sure there would be more coverage.stevedoc wrote:it's always sad when someone dies however it happened and i'd imagine this will be the end of white collar boxing as we know it..
This white colar stuff seems to be growing massively. Half the people attending don't know the difference. Theres even courses now where thye get you fit for say a 8 week training camp and you then (in turn) compete in a show.
Can't see it going anywhere as of yet, not while 'promoters' can make a nice quick and easy buck without the restirctions and costs licensed promoters have over them.
Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
Was it on one of Damo's shows?

Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
It was Damien Huckers show - he posts on here. He's a sensible lad and always talks about making fair matches and ensuring that precautionary measures are in place. He's certainly one of the most safety consious unlicensed people I've spoken too.
I'm hearing all sorts of stories from various people about it. I think it would be irresponsible to say anything on here I just wish all involved well and I hope that this is a lesson learned for everybody, even if it turns out - as has being suggested that the death was not directly as a result of blows sustained in the ring.
Stark reminder how dangerous the sport can be.

i know white collar is growing and i've been to two shows myself i just think this death will bring heat to shows and promotors and the lack of medical testing compared with a licenced show ..the level of fighters was shockingly low on the shows i see well below amateur level , i could even see the likes of the the sun and the star calling it a barbaric like fight club ......we'll see

Sorry to hear about this, my heart goes out to his family. RIP
I really hope that this helps raise awareness about the dangers of this sport and why we need shows to be properly run with proper medicals etc.

Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
I know the white collar guys do there best and say they have the same medicals and insurance as the BBBofC this will be the acid test now that a tragedy has happend will there be a big insurance payout for the family?
Also as Michael Watson proved the slightlest mistake or thing done not by the book and all the people involved could be paying a lot of money out in compensation. The board had to sell its london office and move to cardiff because of that fight and they had insurance in place.
Sad times for boxing and the people involved.

I didn't know the kid but I naturally sympathise with his people. I've 'known' Damian for a long time on these forums and I'm devastated for him, as soon as I saw Nottingham I knew it was highly likely and Jazzy Jeff has now confirmed. If he can deal with the heat from this, he'll be able to deal with it from anything.

They don't have the same insurance - they have public liability insurance. Boxers are made to sign a waiver before fighting that eliminates the promoter from any accountability. I'm not sure how that would stand up in court. It's a real mess. I actually have the referee on my Facebook as well somehow!? Don't know the guy - again in my opinion not really to blame at all because the fighter has chosen to fight.

Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
Obviously everybody's first thoughts will be with the young man and his family but what follows will be interesting. If a lawyer gets on to the fighter's family and they initiate some sort of civil action, win, lose or draw Damian will surely be up shit creek financially - depending on how his business is set up. The knock-on effect from a ruling in favour of the family would change the landscape of unlicenced boxing completely I reckon. Perhaps when all the RIPs and what not are out of the way, one of the posters with a legal background will be able to give some input on this one.Jeff Thomas wrote:They don't have the same insurance - they have public liability insurance. like i said earlier this will be the end of white collar boxing .if people feel so strong about fox hunting how do you think it will sound that a man died after fighting (not boxing) in a unliecenced contests it will seem barbaric to most people like dog fighting .Jeff Thomas wrote:They don't have the same insurance - they have public liability insurance. I think he's referring to the quality of the fights, anyone can fight, but it takes a certain amount of ability to box.billy bessey wrote:Fighting not boxing? Amateur boxing insurance covers you for loss of eyes - or a limb only.
Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
Guys, I don't think this one should dragged down the road of licenced boxers are better than unlicenced boxers. Up to a certain level it's not always the case and anybody who follows both sides of the game and know their boxing can't possibly disagree with me on that.
Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
RIP to the lad very sad news

i must of seen some real shite unliecenced boxing as it was worse than any senoir amateur fights i've seen ...i don't think they are even close .unlicenced is for guys that can't cut it at pro level , not having ago at the boxers just that it's a lower level
Re: Fighter dies in White collar fight...
I googled the fellow and saw a pic of him, he certainly looked in fantastic condition, as good as any BBBoC licenced boxer.
RIP Lance, too young to go.

Accidents happen and this could easily happen at any tournament or gym in the country. I am always frightened by the thought of one of the kids who trains me with me having an accident and in this litigious society we live in I am more and more coming to the conclusion that it just isnt worth the worry anymore.

there's a fight of his on youtube as well, take a lookpalooka wrote:I googled the fellow and saw a pic of him, he certainly looked in fantastic condition, as good as any BBBoC licenced boxer.

People die running marathons, playing football, whatever. People are bound to think the worst though due to the sport. Hope Damien's ok, he's very passionate about it.
