When I was a lad there was nowt wrong with the Cross. Produced some great fighters - and pro footballers. It's now nicknamed Beirut.

Well, it didn't look as bad as Page Hall, that's about the best thing I can say about it. It looks like worrying times for Sheffield.

What was the prog mate ?
What was the prog mate ?
Re: Parsons Cross
Haven't watched the prog but will now. Still live on the cross myself and don't think any of the problems I've encountered over my life would have been any different if I had lived in any large city council estate. Extremely large area it cover and over 5 thousand ppl If I recall correctly and the good definitely outweighs the bad.

I watched it...I thought of you!Parson Cross wrote:Mickey

It was painted in a terrible light, but Page Hall looks like a riot waiting to happen. Still two more episodes to go.

You wouldn't say that if you owned a kebab shop round there!manno wrote:Haven't watched the prog but will now. Hexthorpe in Doncaster is about the same for similar reasons.mickey1975 wrote:It was painted in a terrible light, but Page Hall looks like a riot waiting to happen. Still two more episodes to go.

I haven't seen it Mickey,
But let me guess, loads of immigrants on benefits with sod all to offer the society or economy and with no intention of assimilating into our way of life.

It's gone a bit beyond that in Page Hall. I knew about it before last night. The legal immigrants are disgusted with the illegal immigrants! Seriously, it looks pretty bad.G0mez wrote:I haven't seen it Mickey,

Re: Parsons Cross
Yeah, it was interesting to see the second generation Pakistani immigrants taking very much the same view of newer Roma immigrants as was taken of their parents before. To be fair, some of the things going on were pretty unpleasant, but I don't think groups of bored youths on street corners and hassling late night shops is particularly an immigrant thing. I live on the edge of Millbrook estate in Southampton, which is hardly the Gorbals, but the local shops have plenty of problems with bored chavvy kids who have nothing better to do than try to sneak past the security guard, or just stand outside and bait him/her.
Re: Parsons Cross
I love the people who say ooh they're bored, they've got nothing better to do.
NO. Just NO! This is not the issue and if you think that is the issue then you haven't got a clue about these scummy people who have no respect for anything or anyone, even themselves. Feral kids brought up by feral parents is the issue - idiocracy coming true is the issue, stupid/scummy people massively outbreeding the respectable people.
The Roma kids in that program looked about the same level of our own feral kids. Whether people like Pakistanis or not, they generally have a better level of respect in their society towards elders and the kids are more under control and not running riot on the streets annoying everyone at night.
Big problems in this country, softly softly went too far, the police are a joke and the government are a joke, there is no fear anymore - for every person who deserves freedom there is somebody who would benefit from a good kick up the arse and a tough approach. Then the EDL came along protesting about a pub that might be a mosque that actually was going to be a KFC. But they did have a point about 40 mosques probably being enough for Sheffield! What a mess our country has become.

If we all agree that the majority of useless twats on the dole are white Britishpalooka wrote:it won't be long until someone calls you a racist
then that would be more accurate.
Re: Parsons Cross
I suppose the argument would be that we are stuck with the ones from here. Doesn't make the immigrants on it any more paletable.Fat Git wrote:If we all agree that the majority of useless twats on the dole are white Britishpalooka wrote:it won't be long until someone calls you a racist

So yeah you're right, but it's doesn't make it a non issue.
Re: Parsons Cross
Yep, nail on the head, we've got our own problems, we don't need any more.DMA1987 wrote:I suppose the argument would be that we are stuck with the ones from here. Re: Parsons Cross
I would disagree that immigrants are an issue, we are always in need of hard working talent from abroad. Layabout immigrants can go and get stuffed along with the born and bred immigrants, the Falkland IslandsDMA1987 wrote:I suppose the argument would be that we are stuck with the ones from here. are sat around doing nothing, they can all go there as far as I am concerned.
And I am sure Parsons Cross was a beacon of decency and virtue when it housed 'local people'.
Re: Parsons Cross
I can't help but feel you've been fighting this fight for so long that you are always in 'fight' mode ad soon as the word immigrant is mentioned.Fat Git wrote:

Normal people don't have a problem with immigrants who add to the community and country. But you just said yourself that layabout immigrants are a problem. Hence you acknowledge there is a problem with immigration in it's current guise. Immigration of any colour.

Re: Parsons Cross
I think this is more of an issue regarding layabouts who happen to be immigrants rather than immigrants in general. We have our own issues with layabouts so I do agree with what you and others are saying but my view it is a layabout issue which people (not you) seem to confuse sometimes.DMA1987 wrote:I can't help but feel you've been fighting this fight for so long that you are always in 'fight' mode ad soon as the word immigrant is mentioned.Fat Git wrote:

Re: Parsons Cross
There is a MASSIVE issue with immigrants in this country. Everybody knows this surely? Open borders policy is failing us all.
