I was there. there was 100% an ambulance already there and is at every event regardless of what hearsay you believe. The show i boxed on was delayed due to having to move the ambulance as someone had complained it didnt look nice having an ambulance parked outside, like it indicated there had been trouble.

In fact id argue your post is libelous
Why would they ring 999 for an ambulance, if there was already one there?

I dont know the answer to that and it is a question i have asked people myself, they did the same when a lad was knocked out on a show at the same venue as a precaution.

Maybe there was a st john's ambulance there, but a "real" one was needed, thus the 999 call ?

I think they had to ring for a real ambulance as the one ther wasnt equipped to deal with it. From reading on Facebook the referee and security were helping the lad outside the ring when he collapsed and im worried about this as well having people without the right licences doing that kid of thing is where the case for suing starts i really think if the family of this poor lad pursue this it is ging to get very nasty for all involved.

I just hope the insurance that was being used will cover this as this lads family and children will need support.

The Truth will come out eventually, so it is pointless making assumptions and there is no point arguing, someone has died, who fought in the ring before, the Promoter has not died, so all the sympathy should go to the family of the deceased.

That's a very hard line and quite a wrong statement to come out with at this early stage IMO.
I'm sure if the authorities once their investigations are complete find a crime of negligence has been committed they will take appropriate action it won't be a case of morality though but what is required by law.

Is boxingchat to do with Mr Warren?

I think it is off past posts, if so a typically spiteful and outrageous response from one of the most bitter teams in UK boxing. Can't even spell conscious for fornicate's sake, you guys are a disgrace calling for the lad who put the show on to be jailed.

As far as i am aware (only through what ive been told, for proper facts we will have to wait on the coronor's report) the cause of lance's death was not due to injuries caused through boxing. Lance was a true boxing fan,he used to stay up late as a child watching fights with his dad,he loved this sport and loved keeping fit,as you can see from clips from youtube and pics. He was also a very talented footballer. My heart goes out to his family, close friends and his trainer and gym friends. R.i.p lance gbnf :'(

The difference between pro boxing and unlicensed boxing/whit collar (there is no such thing as semi pro boxing) is i can jump in the ring tomorrow and have a fight without seeing a doctor, pro boxing u need an eye test, brain scan hepititis a,b and c test just to get a license then before a fight u need to see a doctor too.

On my shows I have paramedics in attendance but I do admit I've not always had ambulance in attendance but this will change now. How else could I change it? Also is there anyway at all of getting proper insurance for shows? Yes something has to be done but what? Do you really think a fighter that's getting 100-200 per fight will get a proper medical prior to fighting? The pre fight medical we have on our shows are as thorough as any I had with the bbbc and I know the same goes for Damien's shows he always has medics in attendance the Matchings are fair and the referee is spot on with his decisions. My thoughts go out to all involved

BOXINGCHAT Do you really think Damien knew what was going to happen? accidents happen in all sports at all levels people know the risks involved and although the disclaimer means nothing really by signing it they're saying they understand and take FULL responsibility. The truth
A boxers medical on a pro show is a doctor look in your ears/mouth.take your heart rate.check your hands.away you go.hardly a full body turnout.been on pro show where I got changed in a metal shed before walking thru pissing rain to get into the ring.this accident could've happened anywhere.people look at the pros with rose tinted specs. Oh. There were about 4 boxers and there trainers in said shed.we were nothing but body's.

yes and the same tests you mentioned are repeated every year to see if there has been any changes in the results of the tests which may cause concern it is a condition of the boards insurance policy which i beleive costs an absolute fortune and even then there is an excess i beleive of 50 k which the board have to pay in the event of tragedy so henceforth thats why licence fees charged by the board are always higher than people want to pay
every promotor who is not licenced by the board and run these white collar shows can get insurance as long as they are prepared to pay huge premiums if they choose not to pay for these policies they must face the consequences of their actions should the worst happen because after all said and done they had the choice to insure properly or not to insure at all and they must stand or fall by their own decisions

The promoter hasn't forced a boxer to do anything, holding him/them liable for a boxing injury is like holding the audience liable.

If a boxer chooses to participate in a dangerous sport then it is them who should have adequate insurance cover - if I wanted to go hang gliding then I'd make sure I'd got some cover for hang gliding injuries and some life insurance.

If the promoter has arranged and paid for a doctor and an ambulance to be present then that's that, surely? If a fighter has an undisclosed/ unknown ailment then why does the buck stop at the promoters door and not the Dr who gave the medical?

But you don't with the amateurs so what's so different to the amateurs and white collar?
You still have a medical card with who you have fought and how experienced you are, white collar/unlicensed you dont thats the difference.

I totally disagree with what you say about insurance and so on,a boxer is responsible for his own actions,no one forces him into the gym or into the ring, they get paid for it. As iv said in an earlier post this wasnt due to boxing it was due to a medical condition(from what word going around on merseyside is)

That's what 1 journalist rushing a story has said. He may have intended to say the ambulance service were in attendance. Finding out the facts from a solid source before calling people out for negligence is a really good idea.

The promoter should be responsible for having adequate safety provision and making sure that the boxers have been medically checked - if he does that then whatever happens in the ring is beyond his control - boxing is a dangerous sport. If a boxer has a clean medical slate then how can the promoter know there's a problem?

The same with the audience safety - the venue needs to be safe for purpose and safety procedures in place etc but how can any eventuality be placed at the promoters door? It is insane.

It highlights again what a dangerous sport this game is, but when a grown man knows the risks it is his choice, we are know what the game is once you have sparred a bit. The best medical provisions in the world aren't always enough.
It seems this wasn't a boxing related injury, would his condition have been picked up by the BBBoC?
I think all events should have an Ambulance on site at least.
BBBoC events actually have 2 inc an aneathnitist, events have been cancelled before when only one ambulance was left as the other was taking away an injured boxer.

White collar as it is called, even though most shows are not true white collar, but a mixture of hard knocks off the street, ex squaddies, ex pro's, ex amateurs, bar room brawlers, unfit overweight guys, sportsmen and rejected pro's, add to this bad matchmaking, weight differentials and different levels of training or even non at all, then you have a problem. White collar started off as an experience for solicitors, accountants, doctors and office workers, people who would not normally fight, but for one night only, they could experience being a boxer, in what was just a glorified spa, with head guards and 16 oz gloves, normally with friends or someone they had been sparring with in training at the gym, nothing really serious, unlike most so called white collar fights today.
