Wladimir klitschko rejects Pulevs demands for drug testing
This is very interesting. I wonder what Wlad doesn't want drug tests?

He doesn't like needles.
Re: Wladimir klitschko rejects Pulevs demands for drug testing
Pulev should STFU. He's signed a contract and is now gobbing off. If he wasn't happy with the T&C's he shouldn't have inked.

Let's talk about it for the next decade or so. Like people are doing for Pac.Tuan_Jim wrote:This is very interesting. I wonder what Wlad doesn't want drug tests?

Re: Wladimir klitschko rejects Pulevs demands for drug testing
Yeah I agree. While I believe random pre-fight drug testing should be the standard, a challenger can't expect to sign a contract fully knowing the terms & then demand changes afterwards. But it seems more like the usual press conference attempt at gaining a psychological edge from Pulev, rather than a genuine demand for more testing.Sklar wrote:Pulev should STFU. I wonder if the Klitschko fight will be shown on Eurosport again?
Re: Wladimir klitschko rejects Pulevs demands for drug testing
It's the same night as Frampton-Martinez so it's unlikely to be on allegedly, I can't see Sky being too interested in picking it up either, so I'd say there's a good chance of it being shown on there again.ILikeBeer wrote:I wonder if the Klitschko fight will be shown on Eurosport again?

They can get that Charlie Webster bird in to present it again.

What if new facts have come to light since he signed his contract?Sklar wrote:Pulev should STFU. He's signed a contract and is now gobbing off. If he wasn't happy with the T&C's he shouldn't have inked.

More to the point, how come (according to that article) its the TV companies who seem to dictate the frequency and type of drug testing for fights they show ?! Shouldn't a regulatory body (eg, the German Boxing Board of Control or whatever its called) be in charge of this sort of thing ?

It should be the regulatory body dictating the testing but if they aren't going to do it I don't see the problem with networks making them take tests if they want to get tv fights.JimJim2009 wrote:More to the point, how come (according to that article) its the TV companies who seem to dictate the frequency and type of drug testing for fights they show ?! Anything is better than letting the fighters choose drug testing protocol.
People love to say somebody is always ahead of the testing, they have something that can't be detected by current drug testing. That's almost certainly true but there is also a lab or multiple labs out there with a process that will catch you should they get their hands on your sample.
That's why fighters choosing what lab or agency will do drug testing for them is always suspect, there is just no way they are going to go to a lab that will bust them. They are not proving they are clean they are just stacking the odds of not getting caught in their favor.
The fighter should have no say at all in who will or will not do the drug testing the governing body should be making that decision.
