he needs a Dean Powell type figure, it would seem
NVM.

EDIT: I can concede that he seems to be a little bit shotgun-esque in his judgement of whether his bloke's gonna actually win a fight, yes.

& therefore could do with a steadying hand on the tiller.

Eddie? PM me for my number.
Maybe because he's got so many fighters it doesn't matter too much who loses? The cream will rise to the top.

^ that's a good point, mate.

I just like watching quality fights & quality fighters. I seem to have seen more of those since Eddie's Ascension, so I cannot complain, meself.

Yes, I think he's made a serious error on that one. Couldn't handle Barry M being the boss.

Bit of a joke talking about poor matchmaking considering Crawford is taking on Gamboa tonight in his first defence FFS. Thank God that Burns isn't still a world champion, who was his most threatening defence against - Kevin Mitchell? Burns sums up the idea of a typical British paper champion, consistently avoiding the best fighters until mandated, then getting exposed.

Eddie is a great promoter interns of events management but his matchmaking skills are non existent
Burns was a world champ until a fight ago,match-making shouldn't come into it,if every decent contender was avoided and every champ manouvered away from them, then we'd have no great champs,a load of mediocre champs and no great match ups,I wouldn't blame Eddie,Burns has fought a few mandatories and struggled then put in with a one dimensnial albeit tough, unbeaten fighter last night and was crap I'm afraid
Mate I'm talking purely from the perspective of Ricky's own career from the point he was at before he left FW to where he is now- not about what's best for boxing as a whole but I understand your point about quality control.

The move to Matchroom has been a disaster and he has been poorly advised by Tommy Gilmour or whoever to leave the best promoter in the UK who had expertly guided him to 2 World belts. FW knew he wasn't elite but he picked the best route to protect him but at the same time maximise his earnings

As somebody else mentioned earlier there was no talk of Having to face Gonzalez before he left FW but let's face it Eddie jumped on it as he would have come cheap and there was no chance of fast car following FWs lead and going after bringing over Vasquez and his IBF.

I think the Gonzalez fight started the rot to where we are today with Ricky on the scrape heap..

If Burns had stayed loyal to FW he might just have beaten Vazquez who looks to me like he may have been suited to Burns something which the late, great Dean Powell must have recognised...with two belts he would have been the boss with the world at his feet...who knows GB might have made him a huge offer of life changing money to cash out against Broner in the states if he had two belts but that's just guess work..FW would would have continued to plot the right course and certainly away from the likes of Crawford for as long as possible especially after having your jaw busted only a few months before..

FW is still the No1 promoter in the UK and nobody will tell me differently :salut:

Oh great, lets wheele out the boring old cliches..Some fighters from time to time have got paid abit late which FW has admitted but they do get paid...kids like BJS have even come out to say that they don't mind waiting because FW is the highest paying promoter in the UK by far.

Owes Ricky £200k
ironically Ricky probably has not earned £200k for all 4 of his matchroom fights combined...

I'm sure you know FW and Ricky are due in court a bit later in the year as it's in dispute..from what I've heard FW has a strong case and could end up taking Ricky/Gilmour to the cleaners..same fella thinks Hobson will win his case against
McDonnell/Matchroom..let's see what happens hopefully an amicable agreement is reached in private beforehand but so doubt it.

It's Alex Morrison mate who manages Burns not Tommy Gilmour. You would hope some kind of mediation would be reached to avoid costly court action as you say.

Who says he still owes him anything??

Calzaghe was at one of Frranks charity shows recently - he has also sat ringside with him in recent times as well... Be surprised if he do that if he was owed millions.

They did, but that doesn't explain why Calzaghe seems to be on reasonable terms with Warren, I wouldn't be happy to associate with someone who owes me 2 million quid.

Doesn't mean Fwank didn't sort it out with him privately which is my understanding what happened...again If someone owes you 2mill your hardly going to be sat ringside next to the fella all pally pally are you? When the last time Joe said anything about being owed money...

Watched the missing rounds and had the fight 115-112 for Dejan. Close but clear.

Also, while DZ was undoubtedly a bit crude, I thought his timing was very good throughout the fight. He had the aura of an aggressive come-forward fighter, but his best work was done on the counter, often when Ricky was moving forward.

Same score here. Ricky seemed gun shy, maybe his jaw injury is still troubling him.
