Ricky Burns Bill last night - Reports

Here is my 2 reports from last night 1 of the main event and 1 for the whole undercard, what happened with Sky? i know it went off for a while but does anyone know how it happened??? my score for Burns-Zlaticanin was 115-112 Zlaticanin

I was also surprised that there was no red button facility on sky for the undercard, thought it was poor when they have done this for other bills and that there was no football to clash with it

I thought that for a brief spell in the middle rounds I could see what Burns's new trainer might have been working on - short quick blows while in close - but it didn't last long nor was it effective.

I'm really sorry to say that Ricky's finished at world level - Gonzalez ( losing until surrender), Beltran ( broken jaw and well beaten) Crawford ( outpointed convincingly) and Zlaticanin ( European level at best) won well. I think Eddie Hearn summed it up when he said he can still do well at domestic level. But what a wonderful few years for someone who achieved more than he could have expected, and what a night against Martinez!!!

Simmons isn't ready for Ovil he's not at that level yet.

As for Burns who would have thought after losing to Arthur then Johanneson he would have ever gone beyond domestic level. He fought some live dangerous opponents and some convincingly less than live and dangerous opponents. Great career hope he's made some good money. He can still get some decent fights but he's had his day in the sun.

i think his jaw is fine as he was hit by some huge left hands, far too many in fact. He must if serious about continuing go for a few confidence building 10 rounds against guys like Mezaache (former EBU champ) or Quazghari...guys who have fought in the UK and are known to the fans.

my bro is currently doing dummy scorecards on his Referee /Judging training , he had Zlatacannin winning 115-113

he has mentioned that depending on what seat your on while scoring can make a difference to what you see and think this is why some cards are far different,

Due to the sky technical problem i missed a lot of rounds but outwith them i though burns done enough or it was close at least , but then i cant score it as those rounds were missed

i felt like Jim watt poured over every single shot that zlatacannin hit Burns with as if he isnt expected to get hit at all.

I had it 115-112 Zlaticanin and TBH could have been wider rather than closer such was the dissapointment of Burns performance,he looks like his confidence is shot to sh1t,he's fearful of commiting himself and he's throwing punches all wrong,no snap in them whatsoever,similar to Calzaghe but worse and nowhere near the volume that Joe threw,it actually reminds me of myself when i first sparred and was reluctant to step in with the punches and kinda get caught inbeteween,throwing punches with no real belief that they would land

It sound ludicrous to say this about a 2 weight world champ but he needs to be taught the basics,even crazier when the basics used to be Ricky's strengths
