Up to that time, Lopez would have been befuddled and pummeled by Hamed's unorthodox style, his speed and power.
But the Prince would get a little too cocky and eventually walk into a huge right hand from a battered, but always dangerous Lopez.

This would be too close to call. Danny was always willing to shoot it out. Not sure anyone could afford to do that with the Prince without possible consequence. It could go either way for sure.

nice idea but in my view lopez doesn't reach that point. he gets ko'd in 8-9 rounds - hamed too fast and hits very hard

Though I've said it's too close to call, that's my take on this.

Hamed had unreal power, and though Lopez was very good, unless he studied the prince I'm just not sure he would have the patience to NOT mix it up.

Barrera was one of the most cerebral fighters ever. He outthought the prince, and THEN out fought him.

I think Morales though in many ways Barrerra's equal would lose to Naseem. For no other reason than foolish macho syndrome. Like Lopez it could go either way, but the temptation to mix it up with Naseem might do either of them in.

Any of the three IF they kept strictly to their plan like Antonio did would likely beat him. But only Barrera in my opinion, would have the simple patience to keep to the plan.

I hate it when people always go for Barrera fight. Hamed was well past his peak by then. Look for the Steve Robinson fight for his true ability, when he was still training 3 times a day. Hamed KO4!

Seriously? Look you may be right about this, but my take is that he was just going into his peak, found out he was mortal, and instead of doubling down taking himself to the next level, he folded his cards. He was a great talent, but seemed to lack the will to rise above his limitations. Which in my opinion were not as many as he apparently perceived.

I think he could have been an elite great, if he would have had the will to be.

Did you really feel that Hamed was past his peak when the fight actually took place?
He was 35-0 at the time and a world champion for about 6 years.
He got beat because Barrera was the better, more complete fighter.
Going into that bout, I recall that it was Barrera who was considered past his peak and was a 3-1 underdog.

Lopez by late round TKO or decision---Hamed was so amateurish and got away with it because of his power and lack of opposition---Lopez fought terrific fighters----Hamed would get hit lunging in a lot----his balance was horrible---He never really learned how to fight---He could not even step into his jab----Hamed was a terrific puncher with no polished skills---could not beat a great fighter

uh....well he beat some pretty damn good fighters. And a great fighter who did beat him showed him a fair amount of respect for a guy with no skills.

This would be a fun fight.

Lopez was aroven 15 round boxer and had power early and late on. The early Hamed would box his ears off, the later version would get caught square on after admiring his work. Lopez late stoppage, Hamed on wobbly legs.
