Famous offspring Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (23-0-1, 18 KOs) and Carlos Molina (9-1-1, 5 KOs) battled to a controversial six round draw Friday night in a jr welterweight bout. Molina gave as good as he got early on and as the bout progressed Molina was able to land numerous clean shots to Chavez' head, punctuating the bout with a hard right to Chavez' jaw. No scores were announced. The knowledgable fans in Monterrey, Mexico booed Chavez when the referee raised his hand after the bout, and cheered when the ref did the same for Molina, who hails from the Chicago area.

Only the cream gets to the top, it must be hard for him in some ways to have such a legend as a father because he will always be compared to his old man.

And even if he wins a world title the expectation will be to do as well as snr. did.

Lets just wait and see, still think this kid (and thats what he is) will go far. Maybe will not scale the heights of his old man, but will be still on big shows (and headlining a fair few) in years to come. The skills are there (especially defensive skills) I think he is a slow developer of that adult strength that is needed in this game. Just be patient with him as he develops.
