Brook v Porter Confirmed - Aug 16

Post by Boxerbeetle »

Eddie Hearn has tweeted that Brook v Porter has been confirmed for August 16 in California. Coming around sooner than I was expecting, really hope it comes off!

Quite a lot sooner than expected, and not in the location I was expecting either.

Yeah location is a bit strange, I wondered if it was due to Ward making a comeback but doesn't look like it.

Bika v Dirrell 2 will apparently be on the same card which should be a decent (if scrappy) fight.

Why do you think this? I'm not being funny, I just haven't seen much of Porter other than a few highlights clips - what does he do that will give Brook so much trouble?

I genuinely think Brook will stop Porter. Kell isn't Malignaggi or Alexander. He can hit. Hard. I just don't see Porter beasting it against him, he could get timed all night.

Kell Brook can only fight when the opponent is at arms length away. When an opponent lays on his chest and does not give him room to box at range he does not know what to do, trust me on this!

You always back Kell and that's fine but you make it out like he is some killer in the ring. Who has kell ever beat to suggest that "kell isn't malignaggi or Alexander"

how dare you.......show some respect to former legitimate world champions. Combined they have fought Top opposition Cotto, Hatton, Bradley, Lucas matthyesse, khan Maidana!!!!

This should bring an end to the Brit forums bizarre fixation with Brook. Porter will roll right over him.

you think Porter's that good? He'll need to be if he's going to do as you say....If "Roll right over" means "hit him very hard and that's that"...then it doesn't always work out that way. Ask Jeff Lacy.

I haven't seen Porter so I can't say mate, I'm gonna suggest it's gonna be closer than that :TU:

No offence mate, but how can you make any kind of suggestion if you've never even seen Porter fight? You should probably go to youtube & watch a few of his recent fights before making any kind of assessment on how the Brook fight will go.

no offence taken......Brook's a solid, competent operator with a solid shots in his own repertoire. I don't see it being a one-sided blast out. I'll check out Porter but my opinion is still valid. He's getting in their against another man, not a heavy bag.
Was this fight put back, after the original Brook-Porter thread of a few weeks ago?

No doubt Brook is competent, but so were Bellew & Cleverly until they ran into Stephenson & Kovalev...this is a similar situation with a British boxer stepping up to genuine world level for the first time, hope it goes better for Brook than it did for our light-heavies, but I can't really see it.

The fight wasn't put back exactly, its just taken a while to get put together & there was a lot of doubt it would ever happen, so I think people are just glad to finally have a confirmed date.

You will revise your opinion once you witness the battering Porter dished out to Alexander and Malignaggi. He is a level above these men and Brook's passionless approach to boxing and general mollycoddling will be of no benefit against such a beast.

I just Don't believe they hype with Brook. Eddie and Sky paint him to be the next big thing and I'm not convinced. If Brook wins I'll hold my hand up and give credit where it's due,

I think if Kell comes in 100% focused and sticks to a game plan he will out box porter and win a solid decision. It won't be an easy nights work but he is definitely capable

I know I haven't seen Porter but I'm always wary when someone says this one's gonna get smashed up by that one. Boxing history tends to contradict this.
