Not followed the snooker this time around, but just turned on Grandstand to see that he's in the final, that's some achievement at 48, quite remarkable.

Has anyone been watching the snooker this week, what's happened, was he lucky with the draw, I know he beat McGuire, did McGuire have a shit match or is davis playing really well again?

Come on Steve, I fornicating hated you back in the day, but now I'm rootin' for ya nugget.

He was very impressive against Maguire. Davis said in some ways it was his best ever performance. He also got a 145 break in the penultimate frame

Davis has been amazing all tournament. He beat Doherty in the quarters 9-7 and Hendry in the semis.

He was 8-2 up vs Hendry, nearly chocked it though - I think the final score was 9-6.

His break building has been superb, highest break of 145.

He deserves to win it, lets hope he can hold this form in the final. If he does he will win.

Christ, if he could carry that form into the world champs, surrely he has a shot, though the longer matches would make it a lot harder for him to maintain form.

145 break in matchplay at his age is very very impressive though.

Yes, in many ways it was more impressive than a few of the 147's I have seen. As it never looked in doubt. It was precision.

Davis' breakbuilding is the thing which has let him down as he's gotten older, he has done well in recent years in tournaments but always broken down during big frames when he had a clearance on and had to play safety, his long potting has also gone awry.

Was Hendry playing well?

Hendry was hardly generous in defeat - again. Said that Davis wasn't scoring heavily enough to keep his winning streak up.

Apparently Davis had a break and he said he was thinking about his game and he realised a long-standing flaw. He went to correct it with immediate results.

I think he's a top bloke - and looks 38 rather than 48. Also has a massive collection of soul records. Remember seeing him buy a wedge of 7" singles at a Blackpool weekender back in 88.

Watching Davis v Hendry in a top tournament was real trip down memory lane. I felt like asking my mum if I could stay up to watch it!

Best I've ever seen him playing, at that form he definetly has a good chance of winning the World Championship, lets hope he can keep it up cos he's a real nice guy.

It was great to see Davis beating Hendry up in a major semi-final. He should have strolled it when he was 5-0 up and 7-2 but I suppose it's been a while since he's been in this position and that last frame is always the hardest one to win. The final black reminded me of the infamous black that he missed against Dennis Taylor all those years ago.

I hope he wins the tournament and he'll have a tough match in the final but he's been having tough matches all week!

Back in the day people thought Davis was boring but most of todays players are hardly interesting apart from the odd exception. I always thought that Hendry was a right miserable sod and still is.

Anyone thinking of betting on The Nugget at around 6/4?

I'll take a guess that there were not many takers of the 150/1 last week.

Davis has played world beating snooker all week.

Macguire said he doubted God could have played as good as Davis did in their match. He said Davis' performance was the best he had ever seen

IMO Davis is brimmimg with confidence and looks near unbeatable.

The century breaks he has made have been very impressive, but for me he the most impressive thing is Davis has been coming to the table in crucial frames, 60 points or so down, and just clears up to win.

For me, to acheive this, he is the greatest of all time.

Ding or Perry will find it very hard against Davis tomorrow.

My money is on the Nugget for this and the World title.

He is now the world No 3,at the mo.

I think he may have been no 2 for a short while, but I think Jimmy White took him over, White became provisional no1 in 1993

I have been watching it this week. Steve has looked outstanding in building up leads against Doherty and against Hendry, but then struggled when both began making a comeback.

Ding has looked brilliant, and I think he could nick this. But fair play to Steve, it'll be a good match. I'll be glued to the screen, I'll be rooting for him.

I was watching the Perry match today (against the Chinese chap) and I got the impression younger players are less patient when it comes to seeking opportunities than older fellows like Davies. And I think this is where Davies has been able to score recently.

I've always detested Hendry, he's a po faced pudendum, and fornicating loves himself. I will always rue that White didn't do him in the final when he was 12-4 up, having been 8-1 after the first session.

Mind you, Davis isn't without blemishes, when he lost to Terry Griffiths I think it was in the world championships, though might have been the UK, he refused to shake hands, I've never seen anyone look as sick as Davis did that day.

Davis hasn't played so well in the final so far, think the pressure of thinking he could actually win a ranking tournament is getting to him.

I was about to correct you, in that Hendry isn't American. How weird!

I'm gonna go and see him play in the Masters in London against Alan McManus in January. He's not particularly my favourite player, but I don't dislike him. I should really have chosen a player I liked more, as I took who my mate liked into consideration when getting the tickets. But sometimes the most enjoyable matches are when you have a preference as to who wins.

I have seen live snooker before (Premier League) but never a ranking tournament, so am looking forward to this. Was wondering when tickets came out to the crucible.
