I would imagine he would have as he's a massive sports fan in general and he says he's always liked boxing but i started working with him in the October and if i remember correctly the Mitchell win was Ricky's previous fight before i started which was on Allegedly

I remember my dad kept reading great things about Scott Harrison but always ended up missing his fights for one reason or another - when he eventually managed to watch a Harrison fight live, it ended up being the first Medina fight...suffice to say my dad felt a bit short-changed on the night.

I really hope its not a case of trying every which way to recapture the magic. Seems a desperation move to me. He has surely deserved a good rest, and a break would do him good. If he's fighting in Sept then it won't be long before he's back in training camp, most of his life has been spent in training camps over the past 18 months (or recovering from broken jaw surgery), give him a rest and let him come back next year.

They always say a move up in weight helps a fighter and i know Burns has been struggling a bit at LW but says he was not moving up to LWW anytime soon,i think it is a case of trying to recapture the magic as someone says

But TBH Ricky's been struggling with LW's on the inside and even seems to be getting manhandled so i would suspect its only gonna get tougher up at 140,where his already limited power will be even less effective

Change of trainer, then move up in weight. It does seem like he's going through the motions of changes that fighters make when they lose fights. As mentioned above, I suspect the top LWs will be far too strong for him.

He's done 12 rounds no bother, so I'm surprised he thinks making weight is the reason he's gone stale.

That size advantage at lightweight will be forfeited at light-welter.

Even domestically, hitters like Dale Miles or Chad Gaynor could bust the bolts out of that jaw with one shot.

Let alone at world level where Matthysse, Garcia, Providnikov roam.

It seems like a kneejerk reaction. He needs a long rest and careful thinking about his future. There is no need to rush.

I have to say yes. Apparently the Vasquez fight was never signed and he was far too inactive. In saying that, I do think Eddie's matchmaking in handing Ricky a southpaw who can bang was a bit questionable. Of course, he should be beating him if he's wanting to operate at world level but bit of an awkward confidence booster after so many tricky fights.
