What you need to know about Jimmy Barry

Post by BoxBuzz »

Jimmy Barry
(the "Little Tiger")

BORN March 7 1870; Chicago, Illinois
(Some sources report August 4 1872)
DIED April 4 1943; Chicago, Illinois
HEIGHT 5-2 (Some sources report 5-3 3/4)
WEIGHT 95-115 lbs
MANAGERS Dominick O'Malley, Charles E. "Parson" Davies

Jimmy fought out of Chicago, Illinois and was one of the best bantamweights and flyweights ever; He was one of only nine men to retire unbeaten over his entire career; The others were Young Mitchell, Jack McAuliffe, Rocky Marciano, Laszlo Papp, Terry Marsh, Ji Won Kim, Ricardo Lopez, Sven Ottke and Joe Calzaghe

Barry utilized a fighting style similar to Billy Plimmer and was a clever ring general like the "Nonpareil" Jack Dempsey; Those who saw Barry in action called him a "Wonder"; Jimmy was also an excellent handball player; He was a brother of Bill Barry, who reportedly once fought the "Nonpareil" Jack Dempsey

Following the 1897 knockout win over Walter Croot, in which Croot died, Barry was never the same fighter; He never knocked out another man; Seven of his last nine official bouts were draws

Joe Choynski (1927) said, “Barry ... I consider the greatest fighter I ever saw. He had everything: speed, science, stamina, ring generalship, courage and uncanny punching power. There were many great bantams in that day, but Barry outclassed them all ...”

Barry was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2000

What else you need to know about Jimmy Barry.

He's 0-1 against my stable.

And doesn't have any Championship Titles as they're currently all owned by Erik Morales. Barry might just get the first crack at some of those titles if he doesn't run off like a little bitch like he always has from Morales.

Either way Morales has no shortage of fighters to face.

He broke his hand on Chandler's concrete head. He was in charge and would easily outclass him 2 out of 3 go rounds.

Now stop telling lies about our fighters. We are of top moral fiber and of good stock.

Now Barry towers over the field, and slapped More Or Less around like a rag doll.

Barry came to the Million Dollar tournament, sat in the stands, waited for a "winner", And beat him like he owed him money.

That is what YOU the little guy, needs to know about Jimmy Barry.
