It's Official - Wladimir's next fight is Pulev!!!!!

Chagaev, who is considered one of Wlad's best wins, didn't look impressive against Oquendo today.

Remember that Povetkin struggled with a shot Chagaev, and went life and death with a CW in Marco Huck.

Chagaev fought Wlad 5 years ago and was a better fighter at the time. If you didn't know, a lot can change over the years.

I think it will be a good fight.

pulev has Stamina for 12 rounds and he is tall and very strong. that means he won' take his head down and dive head first into wlads nuts like many smaller fighters do leading to a lot of clinching. and if wlad tries to hold and push he will also tire himself out because pulev is even a couple of Pounds heavier than wlad. wlad can't afford to get into a pushing match with pulev, he will want to stay outside.

pulev is not a Puncher but very strong, tall and a good boxer with Stamina. I guess he will win some rounds against wlad.

Does anyone know if Pulev hot stopped as an amateur? I'm sure I read he did; but can't find any evidence

He was stopped twice that I know of, once on a cut to Daniel Beahan and once on points accumulation to Islam Timurziev (there used to be a rule that a bout was immediately stopped when a boxer fell behind by 20 points within the first 3 rounds). Neither of these cases suggest chin issues though.

As a pro he was rocked slightly by a right hand from Ustinov, but he recovered quickly and was back to outclassing him the next round.

I is probably not blatant paying off of Referees but there is also a psychological effect on the judge helping the home Team. a ref wants to be neutral but the crowd is certainly having some influence.

it is not just with the klits but in other countries too. ward, hopkins and mayweather get away with a lot of stuff too.

I think there is an Advantage for the hometown boxer.

The big Bulgarian has opened a sizeable 6-1 underdog to the only active heavyweight over the past decade who has proven he can actually fight, Wlad Klitschko.

It seems that if a fighter loses to the oftentimes lazy Cuban, Odlanier Solis, 3 times as an amateur, he doesn't have the pedigree to seriously challenge for the professional heavyweight title. Even in this forlorn era.
BTW, after WK thrashes Pulev, who's the next scintillating mandatory challenger? Bostov again?

If Wilder can't eventually beat all these heavyweight chumps, then they ought to eliminate the division.
Considering his amateur background included only about 20 fights, his performance is outstanding.
Especially compared to the many European heavies, who spend a lifetime as amateurs.

Somebody posted that the Eastern Europeans weren't allowed to fight professionally for the vast majority of the modern boxing era. This supposedly explains why they've only dominated in the recent decade.
Can you blame the European forces-that-be for not allowing their countryman to go pro? Putting any of them in with any of the legitimate heavyweight champions and contenders who ruled the sport up to the mid-2000s, would have been tantamount to legalized murder.

When Wilder gets around to tapping any of these frauds on the chin, they'll all be sent leg-kicking exactly like that revered former European "world champion" Liakovich

So what do you think of Floyd Mayweather Jr. losing to Auggie Sanchez? How about Carl Froch losing to Andrey Gogolev, Naseem Hamed losing to Dean Pithe, or GGG losing to Mohamed Hikal? And what about Miguel Cotto losing to Abdullaev, a guy who did even less as a pro than Solis has?

If they lose to fighters like that, all of whom were less accomplished amateurs than an Olympic gold medalist and three-time world champion like Solis, surely by your logic they shouldn't have become serious title challengers, let alone world champions. If you didn't know, the amateurs are very different than the pros, and being a better amateur than someone doesn't mean you'll be a better pro (see the cases above, especially Cotto's given what happened when they fought as pros), and being an unspectacular pro doesn't mean someone wasn't a very good amateur.

Wilder did very well for his lack of experience, but the fact that you give him a pass while concluding that Pulev's losses (he also beat Solis) to excellent amateur suggest that he shouldn't challenge for a title is laughable. Wilder still shows many of the flaws (e.g. sloppy technique) that he did as a relatively inexperienced amateur, and given that and his poor opposition, I'm not sure he's much better now than he was at the end of his amateur career.

Wladimir Klitschko vs Kubrat Pulev is an excellent match. I'd like to see the winner defend against Bermane Stiverne after he puts the boots to Denny Welder or whatever his name is. Pulev is a big strong dude and should be able to make Klitschko work. Hope the Bulgarian gets inside and roughs him up. Still have to figure Wladimir is the favourite against the plodding Pulev.
