Carl Froch's underrated resume
Froch got the resume of a true ATG.
Froch vs. Pascal was a hard battle between two undefeated hungry young supermiddleweights. Pascal would go on to beat Chad Dawson and Adrien Diaconu 2x.
Froch vs. Bute was a Rocky Balboa-situation. Bute was undefeated, taller, faster, more skilled, more powerful, the big favorite, but Froch's advantages of pressure, heart and chin made him able to easily destroy Bute and surprise everyone. Bute was never the same afterward.
Froch vs. Kessler was a rematch, as Kessler had defeated Froch earlier. Kessler was a good boxer who had only lost to Andre Ward and Joe Calzaghe, and otherwise, besides Froch, defeated guys like Librado Andrade, Dimitri Sartison, Markus Beyer and Anthony Mundine. Up to this fight, Kessler had just destroyed Bouadla, Green and Magee faster than they had ever been destroyed before.
Froch vs. Groves II was a good win. Froch was aging and Groves looked superior in their first fight, until Froch had some succes and the referee stopped the fight prematurely, making the rematch neccesary. Groves was a young, fast and hardhitting undefeated boxer with 19 victories, 15 by KO, his best win being James DeGale. Froch knocked Groves out in epic fashion.
Froch vs. Abraham was a good win and anyone who knows anything about boxing knows that even though Abraham is not the same force at 168 as at 160, he is still proven to be a very capable supermiddleweight, one of the best, although not in the league of Kessler, Calzaghe, Froch, Ward. Arthur Abraham is clever, hardhitting and got an iron chin. He was the favorite to beat Froch, due to having been the king of the middleweight division.
Froch vs. Taylor was a good win. Froch came to Taylor's home country, was behind on points and had been knocked down, but ended the battle with an epic last stand of a true warrior in the last round. Never count him out.
Regarding his losses, he lost to Kessler, but he won the rematch. He lost to Dirrell, a great boxing talent, but he got the decision and Dirrell's career is in ruins, there has been no reason for a rematch. Froch also lost to Andre Ward, but Andre Ward is easily among the top 10 supermiddleweights ever. While Froch's first "win" against Groves wasn't a true win, it certainly wasn't a loss neither, Groves looked like he was about to end up like Bute when it ended...

Re: Carl Froch's underrated resume
I agree I don't think Froch has fought a better or harder round than round 12 against Taylor, which is saying something. I disagree however that Groves I wasn't a true win. We've both seen the fight but Groves wasn't obeying the golden rule which is to protect yourself at all times. It doesn't matter what you did in the previous round, let alone the first round, when your head's on the block. It was close, very close, but it was fair I think.Kaaspeer wrote:Froch got the resume of a true ATG.

Higher than Joe Frazier (obviously), but lower than Lennox Lewis (obviously). There are many things to consider.Taansend wrote:Where would you rate Froch on the All Time Great list?Kaaspeer wrote:Froch got the resume of a true ATG.

Re: Carl Froch's underrated resume
I consider him within the top 10 SMW of all time. Only the very special talents, such as Roy Jones Jr. and Andre Ward, do I consider to be better than Froch.Shambles wrote: How about in the Super Middleweight division?
I really can't think up 10 SMW boxers better than Froch.
Re: Carl Froch's underrated resume
Why is he "obviously" higher than Joe Frazier? Frazier beat - & decked - an undefeated Muhammad Ali.Kaaspeer wrote:Higher than Joe Frazier (obviously), but lower than Lennox Lewis (obviously). There are many things to consider.
Joe Frazier won an Olympic Gold Medal despite breaking his thumbs in the semi final.
Joe Frazier only lost to three men amateur & pro combined. And he also beat two of those three men. His combined record is 70-6.
Oscar Bonavena, Jerry Quarry, George Chuvalo, Jimmy Ellis, Bob Foster and Muhammad Ali are arguably all better fighters than anyone Carl has beat.
This is not a dig at Carl who I've supported since he turned pro. Just questioning why he is "obviously" higher rated than Joe Frazier.

Re: Carl Froch's underrated resume
Joe Frazier had a win against Muhammad Ali, which is better than any of Froch's wins, but he also got two losses against Muhammad Ali, he got easily destroyed by George Foreman twice and if you take Ali away from his list of victories, then his wins are not much better than those of Deontay Wilder...Taansend wrote:Why is he "obviously" higher than Joe Frazier? Honestly, Chuvalo, Ellis, Foster, etc., are just not good wins.

Ok... well done on the analysis but take all that aside, what the fvck on Earth does it have to do with a 21st century Super Middleweight?Kaaspeer wrote:Joe Frazier had a win against Muhammad Ali, which is better than any of Froch's wins, but he also got two losses against Muhammad Ali, he got easily destroyed by George Foreman twice and if you take Ali away from his list of victories, then his wins are not much better than those of Deontay Wilder...Taansend wrote:Why is he "obviously" higher than Joe Frazier? I was going to ask the same question. Who doesn't rate Froch's CV? It's pretty much the best of any active fighter.mickey1975 wrote:Underrated by whom? He gets credit for his cv time and time again.

I like Joe Frazier, but if you call his resume better than Froch's, then you must be the one trolling.
