Would people tune into watch Audley Harrison??? Read first!

Post by Finn »

I know theres a similar thread about the possibility of Harrison v Chambers however this is a more general question considering the tickets dont seem to be shifting like they should:

"If Audley Harrison were to be added to the Chisora v Fury undercard would it boost the profile and publicity of the event even if its slightly negative publicity (no publicity is bad publicity and all that) and in turn sell more tickets. And if he was fighting regardless of people saying they cant stand him and wouldnt watch him fight, would people actually tune in on the off chance he did something or got ko'd or to check to see if their bets on his fight outcome had come in?"

Yes, because I have massive respect for what Audley has achieved and hope that his is a bit of a 'Rocky' story, however unlikely.

He has done so much good for boxing in this country and frankly people are disrespectful towards him. For years we tell our children to follow their dreams, and in Harrison we have a celebrated Olympic athlete still busting his arse to try and follow his dream. Who are we to deny him the chance to do that if he's willing to try?

As long as he's still safe to fight I'll follow his career.

And besides, lets not kid ourselves that he's talking up a fight with Wladimir Klitschko - Chambers has done well since linking up with Peter Fury but he's a long way off world class.

In case you read this, Audley, thanks for the memories so far and follow your heart.

I'd personally like to see him go out on a win and also win back some credibility, i was umming and arrring about going to the chisora v fury fight even though im a big fan of both fighters but it was the rumour that audley might be facing chambers on the same bill that tipped my decision to get tickets.

People are fascinated by Audley, and rightly so. No heavyweight in the world can afford to be hit square by Haye, Price or Wilder. Audey's great crime is that he was eloquent, and he dared to dream. Britons hate winners, and a winner Audley was, in a major way, at the Olympics. And he has earned wonderfully as a pro, despite his various errors.

I like him and will always watch him. I work in media, and everyone I have ever come across who has dealt with Audley, and doesn't have the bigotry of the online boxing fan, enjoyed working with him.

Its a crying shame that Harrison will always be remembered as a poo pro rather than an outstanding amateur

Maybe one of the best amateur boxer's Britains produced, all forgotten coz of his pro exploits, its a shame that some people cant seperate the 2

Still he was a European champ :salut:

And not forgetting of course THE Prizefighter champion of the world :OhYes:

Hi ramblings on social media long passed the point of tragic self-delusion. He is now saying his hoped-for comeback in August might have fallen through. The talked about clash with Chambers on the Fury/Chisora bill seems to have died a death. He's put up these messages,

"If you pray for my downfall you should get a refund back"

"Those who dream, its not over, we adjust, we refocus, and thrive"

"They will not deny me forever. We rise up"

It's all well and good posting stuff like that but he turns 43 this year and is shooting himself in the foot by not getting back into the ring asap. He does not have the luxury of being able to wait. He seems to be content posting inspirational crapola on social media though.
