Liston is a class above. Sonny by mid rounds TKO.

I’m picturing the irresistible force (Shavers) v the unmoveable object (Liston)

This. I'd see this as a pretty one sided fight. Shavers lands a few big shots, but Liston gets him out of there in about seven or eight rounds.

All respect to Shaver's power, he wasn't quite fast and educated enough with it to prevail over Liston.

Both have the punchers chance....but Liston's additional skills are enough superior to give him the clear betting edge.

I'm picturing the "irresistible force" flat on his back in the 5th round.

Would literally bet my life it wouldn't go three full rounds.

Holmes' jab dominated Shavers.
So would Liston's.
He would lower the boom on Earnie in about 6 rounds.

So many seem fascinated with Shavers. He was a decent, but hardly great, heavy with some terrific power.
Shavers always fell short against the special fighters. Liston was special so the outcome would be no surprise.

You are very possibly right about the three full rounds.

I earlier said 5 rounds, but that may be a bit generous for Shavers. I think once Sonny hurt him, things would go pretty quick.
