I have said this from day one i think degale beats froch all day.
I may be wrong and froch is a legend no doubt, but I believe degale is one of the most awkward fighter out there and in my opinion froch struggles with that type of opponent.
If i had to say how the fight would go id say degale by points and a land slide at that

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I find it amazing that anyone could see a landslide victory for de gale
For me DeGale doesn't have the power to trouble Froch and whilst he may make carl look ungainly in the early rounds it's a a matter of time before the pressure starts to tell, he gets trapped on the ropes and unravels rather quickly.

I completely understand why you think that and i know i am a minority that believes degale will win but i honestly think he is so awkward and tricky and i think froch needs a fighter who win stand and trade with him to b affective.domjon wrote:righthook wrote:I have said this from day one i think degale beats froch all day.

Time and again Froch has proved he has what it takes to overcome stylistic disadvantages, James is utterly unproven at the top level and has looked vulnerable on the way up.

I know degale looks lazy at times and i hate the way he sits on the ropes and takes shots but i feel if degale got this fight it would bring out the best in him and he would know he couldnt do any of that crap or he would get took out early. Having said that i think with the right game plan degale could win every round by boxing and not getting into a tear up

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
No chance it will be PPV- neither fighter or the event meets the criteria.
Froch v Degale/TBA will be on around the same time and Carl is PPV from now on
Plus there could be other potential PPV Events which spring up that Hearn/sky might be involved in at the end of the year like a Haye return (although I think he will go to BN)..if Brook beats Porter and khan is still unable to pin Floyd down to a fight then I'm sure Eddie might have a crack at getting that fight on at end of the year.

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
A multitude of mediocre fighters have found Degale easy to hit. The man seems to have a low IQ both inside and outside the ring, and I have no doubt Froch will outwit him, walk him down and club him senseless.
Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Degale impressed me in his last fight. I think Froch beats him, people don't seem to give Froch the credit for how good he is.
DeGale via landslide is just disrespectful.
DeGale via landslide is just disrespectful.

Staggering thread this.
I like chunky he's a very good fighter but froch is just on a different level altogether he really is

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Degale has talent and it will bring the best out of him, I feel. I would look forward to it. I think Froch would win though. He reminds me of Evander Holyfield in that I always wondered when the wear and tear would catch up with him etc, but he always seemed to find a way to win -Bowe II, Mercer, Tyson, Moorer II etc.
Time and time again Froch has been in tough fights and come through. He is a very difficult man to beat.
I would actually like to see him box Ward again over here with a big british crowd behind him. Ward one the first first in america and he shoudl return the favour, I feel.
The danger of a Chavez jnr fight would be that even if it is signed and agreed, can you gaurantee that Chavez will bother to make the weight.

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Degale's problem is that he is very inconsistent. He even got booed out of the ring on his debut.
He was OK against Gonzales at Wembley, but who is Gonzales if we are honest ? and I doubt we will see him ever again as he looked like a club fighter.
Prior to that I have to say that I thought Degale was very mediocre in several fights on Channel 5.
The only complete performance I can remember is going into the hostile Liverpool back yard of Paul Smith and putting together a very decent display.
However another performance that springs to mind, is when he was almost halted when winning the EBU off Wilczewski(?) , a fighter who arguably beat him on some people's cards and lost via MD. Wilczewski later went on to lose almost every round against Arthur Abraham a few months later - and we all saw what Froch did to Abraham.
My opinion is that Degale doesn't do anything for Carl's career at all. At this stage he should look for a monster fight (Golovkin?) or try to tick a box (Las Vegas) or hopefully do both (GGG in Vegas).
Now if you asked me if I would like to see Groves Degale II then of course I would, because there is a story there - whereas there isn't one with Carl.
A fully motivated Froch controls and stops Degale, but one who is half-arsed might flatter Degale and I don't think even Froch's biggest critics would like to see Degale be the man from these shores to do him.
Degale, whom I actually dont mind as a bloke, should sit around to get his shot at the vacant belt and build from there. Meanwhile Groves could try for the WBC and they do a unification.

Yes, Degale is a pointless move for Carl. Froch would win comfortably too.

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
He wasn't almost halted. He took a shot and was shook. How you can say he was nearly stopped is beyond me.
Re: Froch v Degale 2014
I actually think DeGale has a good chin. He just has other flaws that can be easily exploited. Froch would "Bute" him. DeGale is lazy and looks to take breathers mid round, he likes to fight off the ropes. Froch would walk him back and tee of on him not minding taking a coulple to unload on the ropes. Early stoppage win fro Froch
Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Golovkin has a spotty record, but there isn't much doubt in my mind that he's a freakish puncher.Sklar wrote: How would you see a fight between Carl and GGG going?
I think we'll get a better gauge when he fights Daniel Geale.
But Froch isn't Daniel Geale, and he'd also knock out everyone on GGG's record too. Whereas I couldn't say for sure yet whether GGG would beat everyone on Carl's record the day Carl fought them. Yet.
Gabriel Rosado, Curtis Stevens, Kassim Ouma all went 7,8 and 10 with him.
It seems anyone with balls who take it to him, have success. Those that go straight on the run have issues immediately. Macklin, Proksa for example. He loves them on the ropes.
I've seen Carl take monster shots flush off people like Kessler, George Groves etc and I think he'd be able to take what GGG throws.
And as soon as you take that away from him, I'd be interesting to see what else he can do, and whether he'd be able to take some back as well.
Carl has unrivalled experience. But he's been shook in a few fights now, he's not going to be indestructible forever. Whereas GGG has overwhelming amateur experience , is young and fresh.
It's why it's such a superb match-up.

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
I'd be very excited about a Froch- Golovkin fight.
The anticipation would be great. I'd put my money on Froch being too big and tough for him and could get the stoppage. He does hit hard but so do Kessler and Groves, and I am not sure that Golovkin would be able to land as many.
As good as Golovkin is, there is an absence of a Kessler, a Groves, Martinez, a Froch or a Ward on his ledger. It's time for him to step up at that level, I think
In complete contrast to all this, Ward's career seems to have come to a grinding halt.

Because nobody wants Ward(and Rigo). It must be the worst fight out there for anyone.big lennox wrote:I'd be very excited about a Froch- Golovkin fight.

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Froch/Golovkin would be an insane war. It's not going to happen in a million years. What a prospect though. I couldn't pick a winner.
Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Froch beats DeGale, surely?
The only chance I can see of DeGale winning is if Froch suddenly gets old overnight, and isn't the same fighter he was against Groves. Possible I guess, with Froch's age. But other than that, DeGale just isn't at Froch's level at the moment. The Froch that just beat Groves beats Chunky as well.
DeGale would be favourite two or three years from now, as Froch is getting to the end of his career and probably won't be around that much longer.

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Surely, Froch vs GGG is a more interesting fight than Froch vs DeGale?
Obviously, that's not what Uncle Eddie cares about. Froch vs DeGale is a lot easier to make, and he already knows how to milk the All-British world title angle for all it's worth.

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
I think GGG is a very special talent. I wouldn't go anywhere near him if I was Froch unless he suddenly becomes an absolutely huge name over the next year by beating someone like Cotto or Chavez Jnr.
GGG isn't the sort of fight you'd want in the twilight years of your career. The guy has a rock solid chin (never down as an amateur or pro), punches as hard as anyone in the sport, is technically excellent and is not yet a truly household name. Too much risk.

DeGale likes to lean on the ropes, which is suicide against Froch. Look at Butemagwitch wrote:Chunky on points is a very romantic notion indeed! There's as much chance of a Chunky KO win. We know its next on the agenda as this Vegas thing is just not going to happen IMHO.
Hearn (and I'm not critizsing him as I want to see the Degale fight) has no intention of going to America to do a deal with the likes of Arum when he and Sky can put on another big primetime UK fight where Eddie is in control of all the money as its an in house fight. US TV would most probably buy into it also.
Chavez is in dispute with Arum who couldn't even get him to fight Golovkin so why anybody thinks
There Is even a 25% chance this fight will happen is beyond me.
I'm going for Chunky on points

Re: Froch v Degale 2014
Bute has the chin/punch resistance of an 8 year old girl...he was rocked by every single shot wherever it was on the ropes or in the middle of the ring..Although he is trained by McDonnell which I consider to be a disadvantage I'm sure Degale will be able to work out that sitting on the ropes instead of spinning off wouldn't be the best idea against Carl.danconnollyeire wrote:DeGale likes to lean on the ropes, which is suicide against Froch.
