Well, it was on the news and in all of the papers.

I doubt it made Australia. I'm ex-pat.

I thnk the incdent Mickey is alluding to was 20 years ago now, so I doubt there's much (anything) online about it.

Henry and his traner were robbed at gunpoint whilst in trainng camp in Florida preparing to fight Benn (I think it was that fight).

Was Henry born in Leeds (as Boxrec states) because he has cousins in Hartlepool who swear he was born there and travelled down to Leeds with his family a few days later?

Born in Leeds, lived in York, got a lot of family in Hartlepool.

I don't make any catty remarks, only facts, Henry is a close friend. It was well documented what happened in Florida.

I'll buy this book, Henry was a really good fighter and always came across well, he had a really good left hook, he near enough went straight through Sam Story's ribs.

My pal Josh Wharton is Henry's relation from up Hartlepool way. Absolutely scary how similar he is to him facially. Dunno how to put pics on here or would show you. It's uncanny. Good boxer himself as well and another gent.

sorry, yeh good fighters and brothers won national titles when it was really hard to do so, think they boxed for burmantofts mickey? some good amateurs around Leeds then Silkstone then a bit later Galey,Manners brothers of course Henry,Franny Hogg

Tony Silkstone was a really good boxer, it's a terrible shame how things worked out, seemed a really sound, decent kid as well.

Denzil Browne, Tony Massey and others.

It was a pleasure to write the book, it's what makes it worthwhile. The others I done on Dave Charnley and Tony Sibson were exactly the same. Great people, sincere, tough as old nails, honest, with no malice towards any of their opponents.

Different characters though. Poor Dave's memory was going a bit but humble and very polite. Tony, so shy it was incredible, and Henry, great memory for detail, always willing to assist.

Fans will notice a similarity - they could punch like mules !!!!

I knew you'd authored the Sibson biography but not a Charnley. Someone else who hit very hard and would make a good read is Paul Ryan.
