bradley skeete v ste pearce

Post by maley1984 »

8 rounder booked in for the 16th july. Pearce a former midlands area champ current international champ. Went toe to toe with sam eggington for 7 rounds b4 being stopped. Cud b a good test for skeete. Thoughts....

Don't really understand this fight to be honest.

Thought the whole reason Skeete gave up his English as he was going to go down the internatrional route to ge this ranking up?

I really sense the domestic welterweights really are treading water waiting for Frankie to let the British go. But why not keep the English in that case.

I suppose as an 8 round non title fight the Skeete team are seeing it just as a ticking over fight but agree with you should have kept the English and defended it against Eggington.

I agree he sud hav kept hold of the english title but he wudnt hav fought sam has eggington lost his mandatory status with his loss in pf ( gutted for him but pf is risk v reward). Now the board hav made gaynor v peterson for english title

Wasn't Eggington in the mandatory position for quite sometime though thats what I meant.

Sure he took the PF shot as had been chasing the Skeete fight for ages.

Any news on the Gaynor / Peterson fight?

I think the plan is to wait for the right opponent for Bradley to burst onto the European scene against...it's hard thought when Skeete doesn't show much aggression and gives you the feeling that he could lose at any moment. I truly like Bradley and think he is in my top 10 favorite fighters at the moment, but he has got to turn the heat up a bit or he will never get out of merry ole England.

Skeete sells tickets, that's why he is being positioned well, avoiding Frankie Gavin and Sam Eggington, but as a fighter, not strong enough or tough enough, I don't like it when fighters refuse a British title shot, because of lack of confidence in their chances, then give up the English title for the same reason, whilst waiting for Gavin to give up the British, so they can pick and choose opponents for potential title matches, plus he is very negative and pensive in his fights.
