Re: Audley Harrison vs. Eddie Chambers
How well would Rio have done if he were alone, competing in a sport where he is getting punched in the head by the hardest punching men in the world? It's a spurious comparison.

Re: Audley Harrison vs. Eddie Chambers
Like most of us it must come down to income. He may have done ok relatively but now I wonder how much actual income he's got coming in.
Re: Audley Harrison vs. Eddie Chambers
What a stupid thing to say. The comparison was about sporting accomplishments. Otherwise, you could similarly say "how well would Audley Harrsion have done playing centre back for Manchester United?"...Tuan_Jim wrote:How well would Rio have done if he were alone, competing in a sport where he is getting punched in the head by the hardest punching men in the world? It was meant to provide something else in which to reaffirm simply how much time has passed since Audley won olympic gold in Sydney. A fresh faced Rio Ferdinand was just about to join Leeds United from West Ham. Now that same footballer is in the twilight of his career having achieved nearly everything he could achieve. Audley Harrison has, in stark comparison, been a huge failure.

So, in summary, your point is some sportsmen do well and others don't?jeej wrote:What a stupid thing to say. The comparison was about sporting accomplishments. You can break down any analysis into a pithy one liner. That would be like telling a movie critic "so, basically you thought the film was bad".
It was a mere anecdote based on the fact that just the other day someone tweeted Rio a pic of a newspaper about his imminent move to Leeds that also mentioned the Sydney olympics. It was a startling reminder (to me, anyway) just how much time has passed, particularly seeing how young Rio looked.
Anyway, no need to get your knickers in a twist, we all know (and have done for many years) that Audley's a bag of shite. Nothing new be to told or learnt!
