Well, it seems they have a new site...ukboxing.com!

Been a good few years, but i remember Sooty being a quality writer, and Spud having a number of contacts, and always being good for a ruck.

It won't overtake Boxrec, but I will add it on to my list of things to read!!

Nearly a decade on and I’ve never known British boxing to be so boring. It used to be fun, or at least we used to make it fun.

To be fair, and perhaps I’m only speaking about me, I’m probably a bit long in the tooth to engage with the stirring I think it’s a combination of several things 1) Cost of living, I think lots (well me anyway) need to be head down working ridiculously long hours to justify my real life me, cannot dedicate the time to either writing articles or spending time to respond to bites/ruck 2) Boxing is such a marginalised and expensive sport to follow it is hard to fully engage…I’ve still got a massive fight collection of dvds but I cannot remember the last time I saw a fight live….radio yes, but not a tv/stream fight as live. 3) as we read about your health issues and strong fight, it puts getting worked up about a topic into perspective.

The reality is Spud, you have had a very successful life and have done a lot of things, you went everywhere with both the army and boxing and made a huge success with both and though you have took a lot of flak on here but you have always been been 'up for a ruck' and you can defend your corner with the best of them.

Of course, the folks on here who have known you for these past twenty years and were there for the days of dogghouse and now here wish you nothing but the best for your present scrap with Parkinsons, you have done a lot to be proud of and
if anyone says otherwise, well, fornicate 'em they obviously weren't there when your efforts made the David Haye vs Mark Hobson fight only for it to fall through - thanks to you, we got that David Haye press conference pearler 'I am going to beat up Hobson for all the grannies whose tellies he has stole' only for us to find out he was a fishing bailiff

I am glad you are here back and posting and hope you continue to do so for the long term future. It's interesting to hear your son has now took your place in the boxing world and I wish him nothing but long lasting success in his venture.
