Crolla vs Lundy
Crolla vs Lundy
What a cracking little fight. On the 13th Sep.
Re: Crolla vs Lundy
I hope Corolla does a number, he is world class. He'll get in with anyone.
Re: Crolla vs Lundy
Look at his record
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=bo ... _id=360267
His best wins are.
Richar Abril the current WBA champ who was robbed against Rios.
David Diaz ex WBC champ though he got eaten alive by prime Manny
Olusegun who is a light welter and was the most avoided fighter going until Matthysse fought him has a good dig
Narrow losses to
Ray Beltran which was an MD will defs go looking for this one to watch later
Victor Postol in Ukraine not seen him fight but he is Danny Garcias mandatory
11rnd Stoppage loss to John Molina in 2011 who gave Matthysse a top fight recently
The guys above are far better than anyone Crolla has been in with which means lundy will be favourite with the bookies surely. I doubt crolla will stop him.
I like Anthony a lot as I've met him a few times really do hope he pulls it out of the bag for this one. We will know his world title credentials after this one so I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
This is a dangerous fight for Crolla, high risk, low reward, I'm not really sure what the plan is with him. His only meaningful ranking is 5 with the WBO, but Lundy's unranked by them and Stephen Ormond and Paulus Moses seem to be set for an eliminator/final eliminator for the same title, so they're unlikely to get it as an eliminator for him, which makes me question why they would put him in with Lundy, which is a big risk, for such little reward, especially when to me I see Lundy winning comfortably, although the judges may see it differently.Naandrew wrote:Look at his record

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
Great fight and worth the risk for Crolla IMO,Lundy's well known in the States and ive seen him a lot on ESPN Friday Night Fights over the years and he's a great fighter with some great wins but he can be beaten and Crolla went right up in my estimations with the Murray win
Tough, tough fight for Anthony but one which he should take as he will benifit being in with the likes of Hank just now
I still go for Lundy but thats just me and is no reason for Crolla to reject the fight as he's getting better and better every fight, that Murray win must have done wonders for his confidence and i expect an even better Crolla next time out, whether it enough to beat Lundy who knows but these are fight you need to take if you wanna not just fight for a world title but win it and defend it

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
Crolla on points. Lundy is a good fighter and a good test to see what level Crolla is at.
Re: Crolla vs Lundy
This is interesting Gallagher has got in touch with BS to say it's not happening as it is high risk low reward and how crolla has had tough fights and wants him to have tick over fights until a world title .....
http://www.BS.com/team-crolla- ... out--80131
Lundy has been on his twitter saying he got the call two days ago and said yes.
https://mobile.twitter.com/hammerinhank ... 0290579456
Just can't see any reason why he would lie.

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
Tick over fights? How about he goes out, fights above domestic level and actually earns a world title fight? Paul and Stephen seem to think they've earned world title fights, Quigg's pretending to be a world champion, now Crolla deserves a shot as well?

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
Lundy is a good fighter and someone who nearly fought Ricky, good fight for AC and a hard oneexpe wrote:This is a dangerous fight for Crolla, high risk, low reward, I'm not really sure what the plan is with him. Moses will be far to big strong and experienced in my opion for Stephen but I wish him well

I was about to heartily congratulate all involved, when I saw that pragmatism had intervened once again.

I like Crolla seems a decent fella but he's not done anything above domestic level in my opinion.
Re: Crolla vs Lundy
He's world class based on what? Just a year ago he failed to beat Derry Matthews and only squeaked by Gavin Rees. The fight with Murray was also very competitive for the most part, though he closed well.palooka wrote:I hope Corolla does a number, he is world class. He'll get in with anyone.
To me Crolla seems like another Brian Rose or Stephen Smith, where the world class (or world title at least) talk starts even though the fighter has hardly done anything above British level.

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
To be fair to Crolla and Co. , there are so many "world titles" out there these days that "earning" a shot at one isn't really required.ste1983 wrote:expe wrote:Tick over fights? Why fight tough opponents for little money when you can sit on a ranking and get a final eliminator/direct title shot?
In an ideal world you would "earn" your title shot by fighting tough contenders but the reality is fighters have done much less than Crolla and still received title shots.
I mean, two fighters he's beaten have fought for "major" world titles.

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
Even though Brian got beat up really really bad against Andrade he did become mandatory and beat an ex world champion as well.crusader wrote:He's world class based on what? I do see Gallaghers point but if a fight with lundy cane become a final eliminator of some sort then it should be happening.
Announcement on this card has to be pretty soon.
Re: Crolla vs Lundy
A former world champion coming off a first round stoppage loss against Macklin (and see what Alcine has done since).
Yes, Rose did become mandatory, but he was very fortunate to earn that position and he was never close to world class despite some hints at it. There seems to be a recent burst in these types of cases.

Re: Crolla vs Lundy
Crolla would have done bloody well to outwork Lundy.
